Is it too late for me?

Hi, all!

I'm 31 and it will take me 3,5 years to become RN. So i'll be 34,5 when i graduate. Will I be one of the oldest new grads? At that age..new grad and.......... no RN experience? :nurse:

I graduated nursing school when I was 37. I started when I was 34, which was the mean age of my associate degree nursing class. Many of us were second career nurses. Some of us stayed home with kids then went to nursing school. I've found that my life experience made me a better student and a better nurse. You are only as old as you feel. Go for it!

Second career for me too- will be 41 when I get my ADN. I have a BA and worked in the legal field for 10 + years.

Hi, I am 33 and by the time I finish my accelerated nursing program (20 months), I wil be 35. I hold a BSc and an MSc degree in health care management and thought about nursing for a long time. I have a successful career but I don't want to regret down the road for what I could do with my life. Good Luck and be proud of your life-long learning capacities.

My mom will be graduating with me and she will be 47 when she graduates. There is also a 65 year old woman in my A&P class.

I decided on a career change last summer at age 29. I start my ADN program this August and will graduate in 2012.

I'd say I'm in the middle as far as age is concerned in my class. Many men and women are over 40 and likely a few 50s as well (I can't tell!).

If you are thinking about nursing, just DO IT!!! You definitely aren't getting any younger contemplating this decision, haha =) J/K...

You are never too old to make a positive change in your life. You'll have so many opportunities once you complete your program and you'll never say "I'm too old for this!"

I will be graduating at 40! It's never too late, plus think of all the maturity and life experience we will bring to the job. 40 is the new 20!

I have often wondered the same thing. I will be 34 when I graduate (I just started an ADN program). I sometimes feel like I will be "too old", but then again, I would rather be working as a nurse at 34, then in banking like I have been for the last 14 years!

The time is going to pass anyways. Now is the youngest you are ever going to be and if you wait....then years from now you'll realize how young you really were. So yeah, never too old. I know a grad in my program turned 50 and he wasnt the oldest. Just look at how many more years you will have to work until you retire and you can see that you have alot of years left to work.
