i was planning on taking anatomy next semester (spring) and taking micro last out of all my science prerequisites. at my school its really hard to get into anatomy if you dont have first or second day priority registration (and i have third day priority), so i was thinking of taking micro next semester instead because i think it fills up slower than anatomy, then by the time i want to take anatomy i'll have enough credits to qualify for first day priority.
Any thoughts? Would it be better to try and get into anatomy first?

I am sure everyone will give you a different answer, but I don't think it really makes a difference. I took my courses all backwards. Physio one semester, Micro the next and Anatomy last. ( I would however recomend taking Anatomy before Physio....even though I got an A in all 3 courses I think Physio may have been a little easier if I had taken anatomy first)...Micro isn't too much related to anatomy and physio that you would need either before micro. I took micro with chem and they really complimented eachother.

I ended up taking anatomy, then micro, and physio last. I think it was great to do it that way because it made physio that much easier! But really I dont think it matters.

1) makes no difference, one will not make the other any easier or harder.
2) at my school, you have to take AP before micro

I don't think it matters which order you go in. A&P is good to do before Micro just as Micro is good to do before A&P. But if it doesn't matter to your school, I would just sign up for Micro first since you said it will make you more likely to get into A&P.

At my school, you had to be enrolled for Anatomy before you could enroll for Micro, and you had to complete Anatomy before you could take Physiology. I took Anatomy and Micro in the same semester, then Physio in the following semester. I think Micro and Physio correlate more closely, and would go better together, but it'd be a lot of intense studying.

We don't have a choice: Anatomy and Physiology are one (looooong) class and the A&P sequence is a prerequisite to Micro. I would have done it in that order anyway.

I agree with everything here. I can reaffirm with what HeartsOpenWide says because I also took the prereqs in that same sequence: Physio, Micro, and then Anatomy and got all A's as well.
Micro is very different from Anatomy & Physiology... in fact, I felt that it was more related to what I learned in OChem or Bio if anything.

I agree - there's no harm to taking Micro first if your school allows it.
I took Physio before Anatomy, and I'm very glad I did it that way, because I found it much easier and I'm not sure I'd have had the courage to stick with it if I'd tried Anatomy first!

My own Cellular Biology Professor said that the subjects of Microbiology and Anatomy & Physiology 1 & 2 are not related enough for the sequence of Micro before or after A&P to matter. She said it's better to take A&P back to back. The schools that I'm applying to calculate A&P grades but not the grade for Micro so it's definitely in my best interest to take that one at a time and with the best possible instructor. I'm taking Micro this summer and finishing up A&P this Fall and Winter then I'll be done. Yayyyyyyy!

I took Micro and A&P 1 at the same time....another school I attended recommended taking A&P 2 and micro at the same time. I don't think it matters whether you take it first or second or together, I'd take whichever I could get into and if you think you'd have a better chance getting into Micro, then take it first.
Good luck!

I took anatomy first, and now I'm in physiology and microbiology at the same time. I definitely think anatomy before phys is a good idea, but CHEMISTRY is what you should take before microbiology! Just my two cents. :)
