Hi. I am in WGU's RN to BSN program and have started my first class a month ago and have tried the assessment 2 times and have failed it. I am soooo discouraged and want to quit. I had heard so much positive information on this school that I thought it would be a doable program. I don't feel its doable. If anything its hard. So not like an online course work. You pretty much get access to book for class, read modules and prepare yourself for assessment and if you pass it you get credit and if you fail you retake assessment but there is a but to this because after your second try of not passing you need to pay a 50$ fee for retaking exam:( I wish some people would have mentioned how hard these tests are.... I soooo would not have started WGU. I don't know what to do:( I am looking into dropping out and starting with GCU... Anyone have any positive advice?

Have reached out to the course mentor and utilized the coaching reports? Those are the two most useful tools you are provided- are you using them???
PS: It's supposed to be hard
Yeah, I have but I don't feel like it helps me:( Was the RUC1 class as hard as it is for me for you? I know its not going to be easy nothing is but I expected it to be more doable like regular online classes..Set task schedules etc...

I looked into WGU but I didn't fully understand the way they do their classes so I chose GCU. GCU has a ton of papers all the time. I am just finishing my first class (which was really easy), but it looks like I am gonna have to put more effort into the second course. I hope you figure it all out.

I hope something works out for you. It is really, really hard to do an online course of study sometimes. Would taking notes from the reading modules help? I think I would rather write papers than read and test. Can you transfer to GCU? If you can't do that without a huge expense lost, I would again utilize the mentors again. And be clear that the classes are not understandable to you. Gosh, it is hard, and I hope it gets better for you! Best wishes.

Hi, I just finished my first semester of WGU RN - BSN/MSN. What class are you having trouble with? Maybe I can help. I completed Care of Older Adult, Nutrition, Health Assessment and Statistics so far. Let me know and I'll try to help
Thanks:) Jrich. I think I would much rather have to write papers than have an exam to pass a class.
Thanks jadelpn:) You know its hard because you are suppose to get the whole content in one month or so. I did write notes and studied really hard and nothing. I got a 71% my last try:( I needed a 73% to pass professional roles and values class. Its hard and frustrating at the same time. you know? I can transfer to GCU its just I need to unenroll from WGU but they are insisting I try taking exam one last time. I am. But I kinda have made up my mind because if I can't pass this class how the heck am I going to pass my next course Biochem and statistics?? Thanks for your nice comments:)

Hi:) Thanks for your offer. So nice of you. How was the professional roles and values class for you? ANy tips? After that course I am suppose to take biochem and then stats. Feeling so discouraged. My mentor insists for me to try my professional roles and values exam again. I am one last time see what happens.

I just started WGU and have completed four (almost 5) courses in the last three weeks. So it's definitely doable, don't want to scare anyone off! :) But this style of learning is definitely not for everyone :) I haven't tried the class yet that you are having problems with so maybe it's one of those 'pain in the butt' courses LOL. Is it possible to set that one aside for a few and try a different course, something like Care of the Older Adult?
I'm willing to help if it's a class I have taken, but haven't gotten to the professional roles and values yet - now I'm scared of it .
Feathers RN which classes have you completed?

Oh crap! I also heard positve things about wgu and have applied recently. Also sent my transcripts a few days ago as well. I'm not sure which classes i have to take just yet. Would you mind elaborating on what is it that you are having difficulty with. I am an older nurse 50yrs old and am not really sure if i can do this.. I was hoping i could, because of all the positive comments that were made about wgu. Hang in there!!! Wish you all the best!!!
