I am still waiting to find out what I was awarded and it's driving me crazy! This is my first time so is this the norm? Registration started 7/24 and classes start 8/21. 1 class has already closed. I am worried that by the time I find out all my classes will be full!!
Thank you,
Kimberly
I still haven't heard what i'm getting for financial aid. I'm worried because i start college in 17 days! But i called my college and they told me that i didn't fill out this varification paper. So they sent me it and now tomorrow I'm going to fax them it back and hopefully everything gets all straightened out. College with no financial aid, it doesn't work.
Yes but if they know yo are getting financial aide, then they should be able to do something. My first semester i applied late for FIn-Aid, but they put a hold on my classes and let me start and took the tution and other fees out of my finacial aide and sent me the rest.
Not all schools are alike. When I earned my first degree I took out Financial Aid and never had money to pay for classes until after the Semester began. My school waited for my aid to kick in and let me enroll in my classes whithout purging me. Now it seems that many schools no longer use this practice.
In fact, my current school purged all of the Financial Aid people on the purge date and classes that were closed and wait listed for months opened up immediately! For several weeks I saw A&P I, A&P II, and Microbiology open up in every section offered. People with cash got the spots.
Kimberly that is so stupid, call and fin dout if they will let you start or at least make paymetns until your fina ide gets there
I agree that this might work. Many schools have this option now.
College with no financial aid, it doesn't work.
I used to think the same way but it is not true. It is difficult to find a way to pay cash but it is the best way to go to college. All you need are savings, scholarships, and sponsors! I have one of the three so far (savings) and I am actively working on obtaining the other two. Good luck.
Thanks for all the replies! Unfortunatly at my school tuition is due at the end of the week that you register.I called financial aid and they said that because I turned in my paperwork 1 week after the priority date I won't get my money until after school starts so I have to pay out of pocket first. This is so annoying! I guess I won't start until next semester.

Check into a payment plan--most schools have them--you can make one payment on your bill that will hold your classes until the funds come in. I have had to do that EVERY semester. FA is a pain in the tuckass. LOL!
i am up nights because of my financial aid stuff. lol anyway, just thought i would post here because i can't sleep thinking about my financial aid. school starts 8/28 and everything has to be paid for by 8/24. :chair: i don't know if i'm going to make it or not...all my paperwork is in, they just haven't worked my file yet. i'm sooo worried at this point. i'll just keep praying and crossing my fingers and all that good stuff. the same thing i'll be doing once i apply for nursing school. :sofahider
sorry post so long, just trying to make my self feel better about the whole thing. i'll keep hoping like crazy......
I am having financial aid problems too. I had my FAFSA filed in January. I applied in April, and had my award package soon thereafter. However, because of cost I had withdrawn from my previous school which resulted in a pell overpayment. I lost my financial aid!!! I called NSLDS and resolved the matter with a payment plan and was told that my aid would be reinstated. A letter was sent to the school stating that I was eligible for federal aid again...but the financial aid office is swamped with students and they haven't revisited my file yet. My school also happens to be hours from me (I am in the online university portion) and my only recourse is to call, call, call! I am getting frustrated because I still need to order books against my financial aid (online bookstore) and wait for that to be approved before the books are even mailed! Classes start in a three weeks...
Classes start today for me and the fin aid office hasn't updated my balance to reflect any payment at all. I've apparently been blocked from online access. The fin aid office at my school doesn't answer their phone, it goes straight to voicemail where you get a message that the box is full. They also don't reply to emails.

Why not apply online? It takes a few days if you complete the application online.
