Is anyone applying for or has applied for California State University, Chico State's nursing program? I'm planning on applying for spring 08 and just wanted to know what the cut off points were. I'm so nervous about the whole point system. I've calculated/estimated my total points and it seems like I should be somewhere in between 83-85/100 points. Does anyone know if that's good enough? I highly doubt that's good enough to get me in. I'm just sooooo stress out about never getting in a nursing program soon.

i live in the area and have a friend that just graduated from California State University, Chico's nursing program. I don't know about that points cutoff, but the admissions office said they got 300 applicants and admitted 140......so that is some info on the competition for spots......

I am sure you already found out if you got in or not. I am currently attending CSU. Anything in the 80's is great. There were people who were waitlisted and still got in with scores in the high/mid 70's.
Good Luck!

Turns out, I didn't get in... my calculated points over all was 82 (didn't get too many points for being disadvantaged)... anyways, They said that because I submitted my CSU university application for the university after the deadline for Spring semester then they would still process my nursing application but could not put my points into consideration... and instead put me all the way in the end of the list... only to be fair to other students that were within the deadline... which in this case, made me alternate #146.... That was such a pain in the neck!! But eventually, I got over it! Anyways, I'm planning to re-apply this FAll semester, and this time I hope I get in or at least get my real alternate position and points considered. But, thanks for sharing...
I am sorry to hear you did not get in. I bet you would have gotten in had the application been recieved before the deadline. At least you will know where you rank and can work to improve your points. Good Luck next time around!!

I am currently enrolled in Chico State's Nursing program. If you need any pointers, let me know!! (I got into the program with 78.75 points, so it can be done!!)
Thanks!! that's really good to know! I really appreciate it a lot.... that gives me a lot more hope and confidence!! .... cause, I was put in the end of the list for the spring semester of 08 because I didn't meet the deadline, but I'm planning on applying for the fall semester of 08... I have a total of 82 points... and don't know if that's enough to get in... I notice Chico State don't post the cut off points like Sac State does, but.... if you don't mind me asking.... when did you get in the program? and did you get in when they sent you the letter or were you an alternate that was considered later? cause I know it just gets more competitive each semester... it's driving me nuts!!! can't wait to get my letter in the MAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks SOOOOOOOOOO much!!!:wink2::wink2::D

it looks like no one has responded to this thread in a long time, but I am waiting to hear from Chico for the Spring 09 semester and was just going to see if anyone else was. Also for those of you who have/are attending Chico's nursing program what do you think of it? Are the clinical sites nice, the teachers nice, etc.? I applied last semester for Fall 08 with 82 points and didn't get accepted so here's to round two!
Hi! I am currently in 5th semester of Chico's program and will be graduating in May. To answer some of your questions, I would have to say this...don't hold your expectations too high. It's nursing school, and I have a feeling that no matter where you go, it's never going to be what they crack it up to be. Things are always so unorganized, we never know what classes to sign up for until the week before registration, it's confusing and it's time consuming. The office seems to have a "figure it out yourself" attitude. Most of the instructors are nice enough, but there are some toughies that will make you cry and do not have people skills whatsoever and they make you wonder how they could possibly be a nurse. Most of the clinical sites are nice, but there are some hospitals that are a little underfunded. It's a hard program and I'm glad I'm escaping soon, but it is a very good one too. At least from what I've heard....maybe ask me in a year and see what my response is then...lol. Good Luck!
