Well, it depends on how southern you want to go! I live near Peoria, IL. Is that southern enough? lol Where are you located?

I am as close to KY as you can get and still be in IL. Where are you located? Have you heard of Metropolis, IL?

I'm not from there personally, but spent a good chunk of my childhood summers at my aunt's house in Hurst, Ill. One of my uncles was a professor at Southern Illinois University; another was a railroad man. I used to know the surrounding areas fairly well (Carbondale, Herrin, Cairo etc.) although I'm sure it's changed just a wee bit in the past 30-odd years!
Even though I haven't been back since 1975, I have lots of fond memories of "Little Egypt". Where are you from?

i just want to say that its totally up to you whether or not if you say where your from.you don't have to say exactly where in southern illinois. you could just say yeah i'm from that area. or you could say well i live north, south, east or west of this town and put down a town nearby you that is well known. its totally up to you i know how its not really safe to say where exactly you live at on the internet.:)
No problem. I know that Metropolis has the big Superman statue and Effingham is really south.

I grew up in McLeansboro. I live in a different state now. I've thought about moving back but I've heard health care is not a booming business in McLeansboro.
I wonder about Mt. Vernon?
