being investigated for diversion

Published

I was recently terminated from my job due to suspicion of diversion. I refused to take a drug test and was terminated. I just got a letter from the Florida board of nursing stating they are investigating. Can they take away my license because of this? I was not impaired I was flagged by the pharmacy due to high amounts of narcotics being given

Call your . If you don't have malpractice insurance, get a lawyer.

Side note/question. If you weren't impaired & don't do drugs, why didn't you do the drug test?

Refusing is pretty much an admission to guilt.

Time to lawyer up.

*If* you don't lose your license they will probably add stipulations. I would visit the Nurses/Recovery forum.

Well since you were in a monitoring program I have a feeling you will lose your license.

May I ask why you refused the tox screen?

I also would like to know why, if you were clean, you would refuse a drug screen, it's a fast easy and immediate way to allay suspicion. It's not absolute proof of sobriety but it's generally assumed that if you refuse you are admitting to being dirty. I would hire a lawyer and don't talk to anyone about this without legal advice.

If it were me being accused and I had nothing to hide, (which I would not)---- I would demand a urine drug screen to clear my name.

Something ain't right here. I agree with the others; contact your malpractice insurer and get a lawyer. Say nothing more here.
