Hey everyone who applied for CSULB's Fall '09 School of Nursing (And current/former CSULB students)! I got a call today to schedule an appointment for an interview with the nursing faculty. I did not know an interview was necessary and part of the process! I am very nervous and don't know what to expect for the interview! Has anyone else gotten a call regarding this?
When I answered and heard "..from California State University of Long beach" I thought I was gonna get news of acceptance, but nope, just to schedule an interview, haha.
8.697 is pretty goodif you take the teas test its even better
i think ppl i know had a 8.5
take teas and classes during the summer
or if your confident take pharmacology or pathophysiology during the summer
cuz it will be easier on yourself once you do get into the program

Thanks for the heads up on the pharmacology/pathophysiology. I was actually thinking about doing that :) I'm definitely doing the TEAS again...hopefully it'll raise my points high enough.
Is the interview really tough? From what I've heard so far, it doesn't seem too hard, but did you find it difficult in any way? Also, were there any one-on-one interactions with the interviewer(s), alongside the group interview?
Thank you so much for the input!
thats good your gonna retake the teas and probably take pharmacology and/or pathophysiology
its a good idea to do that so that your first year wont get tough
because like every nursing student at csulb told me
its freaking tough, 1st year, 2nd year, w/e its HARD!
so taking those classes will take off the load
the interview, was easy, just relax and listen to what is going on.
there are some people i know who do not follow directions well
there are also ppl who dont listen clearly
ive heard the interview was too fix the problem with communication
there are nursing students with high grades but cant speak english clearly,
because they use english as a second language
but this is what i heard tho, its not positive
just relax when you do get the interview
and also try to get 100% on your math portion of your teas test
there are ppl who get that!

going out of topic here
I just got my acceptance letter from CSULB (not the nursing program but the school itself)
and I have a couple of questions since I'm a transfer student
Do I need to attend one of those SOAR program
and am I required to pay the fee for the "Admitted Student Reply and Enrollment Deposit" to reserve my spot?
Or they only apply to freshmen students
Does anyone know how I can reserve a dorm room at csulb?
I just tried applying for one today and accidentally applied to get a room for summer session but I never paid or turned in the certification thing. Do i still need to cancel it?
And when can I start applying for a dorm room for fall 09?

Sorry this is a bit of a late response, but I hope this helps anyway...
From what I know, SOAR is mandatory for both incoming Freshmen AND transfer students. In case you need more info, I found this: http://www.csulb.edu/divisions/students/soar/workshop/transfer.htm
You do need to pay the Enrollment Deposit in order to attend SOAR and sign up for classes.
Hope this helps.
I think the only thing I'm going to do on the to-do list between now and the program's orientation is the background check. I just want to be clarified on a few things before I go out and spend time and money on the things we need. The orientation is only a month away anyway, and I'm too busy with finals to try and get most of the to-do items done!
when i went to the nursing information session in march, i got mixed messages about the interview. one woman said that they accept 120 and then take the top 90 based off of the interview, and then the next woman said that they accept 90 students, and whoever scored low on the interview would get placed into extra communication classes throughout the nursing program so they don't fall behind. anyone know which it is?
also, can someone tell me how to calculate your points for admissions? I know that 4 pts goes to TEAS, 4 pts goes to Science and the other 2 are GE, but how exacly are they calculated... How many points is given for a specific GPA. is it on the website? i didn't see it there. Thanks.
Also, if ppl could let all of us future applicants know what your GPA was when you were accepted, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks!!
