Interview for CSULB's Nursing School?!

Published

Hey everyone who applied for CSULB's Fall '09 School of Nursing (And current/former CSULB students)! I got a call today to schedule an appointment for an interview with the nursing faculty. I did not know an interview was necessary and part of the process! I am very nervous and don't know what to expect for the interview! Has anyone else gotten a call regarding this?

When I answered and heard "..from California State University of Long beach" I thought I was gonna get news of acceptance, but nope, just to schedule an interview, haha.

What made them hate nursing school so much?? Have you taken a summer session of it yet? I wonder how they do that cause wouldn't that mean they pack a whole semester into summer, which is like 16 units??

Summer is pretty crazy but you get through it just fine...no one failed out that semester or anything. People just realized how sucky nursing school is and wanted their summers to break hehe.

Help!

Im on the Alternate list!!!!?!?!? This is almost worse than being rejected! Does anyone know how many people got accepted? How many people last year got accepted on the Alternate list?

Please Please Please let me know!

I dont know if i can plan my life around this with out knowing! is it even worth attempting?

Thanks, Jay!

I wasnt an alternate, but I did know of two people who were alternates and got called on the first day of school to come in. you should go for it.

Is there a dress code for the orientation? thanks for all the information maggiofliore.

I dont think so. I think I wore jeans and my bf said no as well. They should give you info. You can dress professionally if you want but there really is no point because you're already in and its not like youre around patients or anything. Id just go comfortably but not trashy :)

on april 17 i ran to the nursing office and i saw my name on the list! and i was tearing up...i was an alternate last semester and ive struggled with winter classes to bring my foundation grades up, and it paid off

congrats to those who made it. a wise man once told me:

"getting in is the easy part, the hard part is getting out!"

lets get ready for torture everybody! WOOT WOOT!

for those who are alternates this year, if you want any info on how many got in and etc just email me: [email protected]

i was #19 last semester and i made it to #10 i think? past semesters there was more because of some factors...

well ill see all of those who made it and alternates at the orientation, dont worry about dressing up, there is no dress code...

haha I've heard opposite, where they tell me the hardest part is getting into a nursing program!

does anyone know when the actual first day of nursing school begins?

csulb's nursing school is intense

students now and those about to graduate are having a tough time

these courses are gonna be harder than anything we have ever taken

they told me its exactly like going to medical school!

ahh!!! i can already imagine:o well we will have each other to get through this right? All-nighters, no sleep and no "me-time." fun stuff

Congrats to those who got in! (hehe, I'm a bit delayed)

Sorry if this is somewhat off the main topic, but just wondering about the application pool on the CSULB Nursing website. Was the rating average (the 10 point scale) based on only the applicants accepted, or on all qualified applicants?

I calculated my points to be about 8.697 out of 10 (rather low, but hoping to raise it up by taking the TEAS again). Do I have a chance? (for Spring 2010)

I know this doesn't really have to do with the interview, but I saw this is one of the more recent posts regarding CSULB students, so I thought I'd give it a shot.
