Thanks for the info. Just wondering...I went to assist.org (for CSULB and GWC), and I saw that Pharm from GWC counts for CSULB, but I did not see anything on Patho. Why can't I find it? As of now Pharm is my only option to take over the summer since the school that I'll be going to only offers that in the summer (I checked other schools, too...only found a few that are offering Pharm). I'd really want to do Patho first, especially since it has been recommended to do so before Pharm. So I may have to just take those two classes in the nursing program.

Sorry this is a bit of a late response, but I hope this helps anyway... From what I know, SOAR is mandatory for both incoming Freshmen AND transfer students. In case you need more info, I found this: http://www.csulb.edu/divisions/students/soar/workshop/transfer.htm You do need to pay the Enrollment Deposit in order to attend SOAR and sign up for classes. Thanks again. Just wondering, are you taking both Pharm and Patho? Or just Patho? And if you're just taking Pharmacology, did you already take Pathophysiology (or vice versa)? My mom (a nurse) suggested I take Patho first...but do you know if it really makes a big difference to do that?

Thanks for the tips! I was unsure that taking another foundation class could replace a grade. Used to think that the new grade would only get factored into the GPA alongside the old grade. Good to know that a B can be replaced with an A by taking another class in the same category Your overall points is very impressive! I'm also planning on applying for Spring '10. I hope to raise my current 8.697 to at least a 9 if not more (the more the better of course, lol). Btw, do you know of any other colleges in the area that are offering Pharm and Patho? And I agree, manongpatrick has been a BIG help (and so have you) :)

Sorry for my delayed response, but I really appreciate your input and encouragement! Thank you so much! ^^ I recently interviewed for the Disney CP but am still anxiously awaiting a response (hopefully of acceptance, lol). Either way, I'm really excited I plan on doing it for sure if I get accepted. If not, I still plan on being productive this summer/fall. I'm looking into CNA training as a back-up plan. I have also applied to a community college for the summer and fall (planning on taking one sem. academic leave from CSULB) and will add or take out classes based on whether or not I'll be working (hoping to take Pathophysiology or Pharmacology if they are offered). Things have been really stressed lately with finals at school, but my excitement for Disney, nursing, and life in general has only increased. I'm feeling ready to tackle anything coming my way! (please excuse the corniness) Hehe

Thanks for the heads up on the pharmacology/pathophysiology. I was actually thinking about doing that :) I'm definitely doing the TEAS again...hopefully it'll raise my points high enough. Is the interview really tough? From what I've heard so far, it doesn't seem too hard, but did you find it difficult in any way? Also, were there any one-on-one interactions with the interviewer(s), alongside the group interview? Thank you so much for the input!

The application period, I believe, is August 1 through September 15. I calculated my points to be 8.697 points on their 10 point scale: - My science GPA consists of two A's (Anatomy and Physio) and two B's (Micro and Chem) - My TEAS score is decent, in the mid 80's for both math and general - My general GPA consists of three A's (taken at CSULB) and one B (AP course credit in high school, in which I earned a "B" both semesters) The thing is, I believe I am borderline (if even that) when it comes to getting into the program, based on the Application Pool Stats. By the way, does anyone know if these stats apply to all qualified applicants, or just the ones accepted? Here's what I plan to do for sure to raise my points: - Take the TEAS again Here are other options to raise my points: - Take Micro again. Since the "B" in Micro has not yet been transferred from the community college I took it at, I can take Micro again at another college, over the summer. - Or take the English class over the summer. Since it is listed only as "CR" in my transcript, I can take another class to override that grade (at least according to Academic Advising). And here's where it gets tricky and perhaps somewhat random: I really want to do the Disney College Program, which takes place from May 2009 to the beginning of January 2010. If I do this program, it would end right before the Spring '10 nursing program. I would not be able to take any summer courses, but I can take courses over the fall (nothing applicable to nursing though, since I will already have turned in my application by then). Here's the info about the program, in case anyone wants to see it: Disney College Program The main reason I want to do this is for the experience. I've always wanted to work at Disney and never got the opportunity until now. If I don't do it now, I may never get a chance, at least not for a long time. (for Spring 2010) I know this doesn't really have to do with the interview, but I saw this is one of the more recent posts regarding CSULB students, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Hi, I'm a pre-nursing student at CSULB, and this is my fourth semester of college (sophomore). Of the four sci prereqs, I took Chem first (in my second semester of college). For my first semester, I got all A's in GE classes, and moving on to second semester, I was not fully aware of how much more demanding a science class would be. I ended up getting a B in Chem (5 unit class) I feel confident that I will be able to get A's in Anatomy, Physio, (I'm taking both right now and doing well) and Micro (plan to take over this summer). I have stepped up my game and hopefully can maintain this focus. Anyway, my question is, with these potential grades, is it possible to be accepted into the CSULB nursing program? A's in Anatomy, Physio, and Micro (all 4 unit classes) and B in Chem (5 units). I'm aware that there are other components of the application, but I'm specifically wondering about the science GPA. I'm mostly worried because Chem is a 5 unit class while the rest are 4 unit classes. Also, with grades like this, what would be a safe TEAS score to have for both general and math?
