I just found this tonight after my first day on the Kaplan Nclex review........I ( where i felt ancient amongst all the new graduates, they were very nice but looked liked my daughter)have been here for 3 years & it has taken me this long to get all my transcripts etc sorted eith the CGFNS...............I was previously an ICU staff nurse & trained in 1988 !!! Thought with all my experience & being married to an American would help when leaving Wales..............how little did I know !! I have had jobs other than nursing ie' a Manager of big Petstore...now at last if i can pass this test I might get to finally put all that training & experience to use !! Just found out today that On April 1st 2007, the passing standard for the NCLEX-RN Exam changed. The of state NCSBN recently voted to raise the passing standard for the NCLEX examination. Great !!! Help any advice would help...the patient restraint's stuff is confusing..so gald to found this list, nos star cariad's Maria

Yes the NCLEX has changed but not by much so if you study well you should do ok. Check out the NCLEX forum sure you will find some good pointers

I trained in 1989 -so not much behind you! I passed N-CLEX 1st time with 75 questions - & did the Kaplan 1 day course (having done a lot of study using Saunders & Lippincott at home). Kaplan coupled with Saunders is great because if you use their strategies you can pretty much get the answer right even if you can't remember what the question is actually about.

Good luck to you & don't worry about the passing standard being raised - it's such a minor adjustment it won't really make much difference to you. It's more important to learn to "decode" the N-CLEX, i.e to work out what the question is asking you & to eliminate the distractor answers. Kaplan will teach you that & I also recommend Saunders Q & A as they have other strategies that can be used along side Kaplan.

You should also check out Suzanne's program - PM her your email with the request. I found her information very valuable when I was studying.

Keep us all posted - many of us have been through it & many more, like you, are going through it now!

Hi

I passed NCLEX on April 3rd . I used Lipincott and another one which I cannot remember. Tip -do loads of questions. I got lots of pharmacology questions and was convinced I had failed but I must have learned something in all those questions I answered! It took me 18months to get to the stage of sitting NCLEX as cgfns were so slow. Now I have a job offer but there is a 3 year backlog for Green Card unless you have a Masters degree. Be glad you have got the Green Card already and Good Luck! Bye the way where in SC are you?

We will be moving to NC!

Hi DH and I are from not so sunny wales both trained in 1986! we managed to get our rusty brains in to gear- we now live in the valley of the oven as this is our first summer we are preparing ourselves for the worst!

Great to have you aboard! good lucky with the muliti guess little quiz they call the NCLEX- if we can pass anyone can! :)

Thank's for all your responses.....I have been feeling pretty:down: I took my NCLEX & FAILED .................I have now re payed my bloody $200 & going thru SC registration again.......I feel awful but will do it again using Suzanned plan

I know about the CGFNS..............they took ages to do complete my crudentials evaluation.........i live in Greenville SC & love it!!

I don't think I would call the NCLEX a 'multi guess little quiz'. Sad to say not everyone passes first or even second time.

Sorry to hear that. I used Saunders which I believe Suzanne uses and I found this to be the best book. Good luck you will pass next time.

sorry to hear that, I passed on 3rd time and 265 questions, was convinced having been asked that many questions when told I had passed that they had passed the wrong person. Definately do Suzanne's plan but also practice many questions and check rationale on ones you get wrong.
