Thought with all my experience & being married to an American would help when leaving Wales..............how little did I know !! I have had jobs other than nursing ie' a Manager of big Petstore...now at last if i can pass this test I might get to finally put all that training & experience to use !! Just found out today that On April 1st 2007, the passing standard for the NCLEX-RN Exam changed. The of state NCSBN recently voted to raise the passing standard for the NCLEX examination. Great !!! Can anyone living or working in SC carolina from the uk help.
I am currently living in scotland and working. Relocating to SC columbia at the end of this month.
Just a couple of questions,
Sent all my stuff to sc board of nursing but they are stiil waiting for ces from cgfns which is taking ages.
Did not do peads and obs and i think i have to make up the hours, stil waiting to hear from the board of nursing. Did any of you from the uk make up hours.
I have got a green card and will look for a job there bfore i can take the nclex, do u think i can get a job as a care assistant in sc without taking their exam.
How long did you prepare for the nclex before you took the exam
Do you like it in sc, noticed that it is very hot there, scotland is very cold and i like it.
Sorry for all the questions, would be vry helpful if i get feedback.
Thanks in advance

I am sure I have read that to do care assistant (CNA) you have to pass exams, does the BON say anything? I would start practising NCLEX questions now but better to do plenty of revision whilst you have the time.

I know a couple of girls who work as CNA's here in Phoenix who are RN's and havent done the NCLEX. They do feel very frustrated however that they cant practice nursing especially as they are so experienced. They find it demoralising and not a positive experience. It does not prepare you to nurse in the US all you will achieve is working with Americans which helps you to get used to the language of the hospital which is very different.
If however you need to work for the money then that is a different matter.
some nurses that i work with took the 2 day paper n-clex exam. everyone you talk to will have had a different experience of what sort of questions that they ask you. mine at the time were mostly all delegation and management questions. my friends were mostly ob, she does med/surg and felt out of her depth with the questions.

Think you missed the fact that this statement was a joke - UK humour strikes again me thinks!
I always referred to it as a "multiguess" quiz when I was studying for it too!
