Question about CA forwarding of NCLEX result to another state

Hello. Since I cannot endorse to another state under the California Board of Registered Nursing without a US social security number, and cannot use the License by Endorsement form nor the License Verification form, do I just send a letter telling CA to forward my NCLEX result to another state? How much do I pay for this then? Let's say I already have the visascreen and the CES made for this other state but I need proof that I passed NCLEX, even if I wasn't issued a hard license, so I will be issued a license by this other state. I am confused as to whether I will only write a letter to CA with a $10 fee (this is written on their website under "Copy of Test Results") or a $60 fee (this one's for "Verification of CA RN licensure") for the forwarding of result to the board of nursing I am applying licensure in. Since I am not licensed in CA and am only an NCLEX passer, do I pay the $10 or the $60????????????????

I am also asking this for the VisaScreen. Do I pay CA BRN $10 or $60 for the test result to be forwarded to CGFNS?

Oops it's 60 for Visa Screen, just saw it on the CA website. Now the question that still remains is, how much for forwarding of nclex results from CA to another BON? 60 or 10?

It's $10. That is the Copy of Test results service.

And you use the license verification form, even if it to verify results only. They want the form and not a letter.

what is the use of forwarding your ca nclex result to another state if you also have to renew the license where you forwarded the result? can you just renew it over and over online even without having to be practicing in that state?

The reason to have the results sent to another state for licensure is so that your NCLEX results do not expire as CA will not issue a license without a SSN#.

All licenses in the US have expiration dates, that is why we always tell everyone to wait until the last year of the validity of the passing letter to go thru another state for licensure.

Once the three years are up and one has not done anything about it, then the results are destroyed along with the application and file for CA.

Each state has its own requirements for license renewal. You will need to check with the specific state that you are interested in.

Thanks miss Suzanne youve been very helpful!

I also just passed my Calif NCLEX-RN and Im wondering if after passing the NCLEX result(letter) to other BON OR state which do not require SSN, will I have my USRN license with that state already?

First of all, there is no state that will accept proof of passing directly from you, it always needs to be sent by the Board that you tested for.

You will have to apply for License by Examination to the new state and have CA forward your passing results to them. It will depend on the requirements of the new state. Many are tightening their requirements for issuing a license without a SSN#.

I see! Since I still have three years before my letter expires, ill have to start collect information about getting license from other states. Taking NCLEX under CA BON is a burden for me now.

Miss Suzanne, what do you advise for me? Will I send a request for extension of the due date for SSN or apply to a for licensure by examination to another state and have CA BON send the result to them before my 3-year period ends?

Thanks again! More power to you!

So wait, let me get this straight.

If a nurse passes NCLEX in CA, s/he can have the results forwarded to another state.

What about the application process for licensure in the other state? Does the nurse still have to go through that process? Does it save the nurse from the full process or only save from having to sit the exam again and those associated fees?

I was under the impression that NCLEX scores were not transferable for overseas nurses, that if one wanted licensure in another state that s/he would have to re-apply for the other state.

It's $10.* That is the Copy of Test results service.

:nurse:Hi. I'm confused. I asked the same thing in the thread Questions for Suzzane and her answer was $60 to send the CA test result, she said its this much beacuse they have to do it manually. Was I mistaken? Is it $10 and not $60?

Thanks! :wink2:

Specializes in intensive care, recovery, anesthetics.

Why don't you check with the board directly and get first hand information?

That is always more reliable than anything else.
