OGP has a programme for nurses who need to top up hours, but you will have to sign their contract before you can go on the course. the course last apprx 4months and cost 150-450 depending on the areas u need make up hours. the theory part is delivered online and you will have to arrange your own practical placements

Specializes in med/surg.

With all that's going on with OGP I woudn't touch them with a 10 foot long greasy barge pole!!!!!!

y'all check out this website!!!!!

Specializes in Critical Care, Cardiothoracics, VADs.

Don't forget if you plan to take the hours as a guest at a US school, you'll need the correct visa (none would let me do it on a visitor visa) and must be able to support yourself financially throughout the course.

At least it's a start! those who are in a position to do so will be very pleased to see this I'm sure.

How long is their contract and how much is their get out clause? These are things I would look at first.

I can't find anything relating to this course that OGP is offering on their website. Plus it states that you must have at least one years experience, I suppose by the time I get over there I likely will but it means I couldn't apply until I have:scrying:

It looks like Sydney, Australia is beginning to call louder now....

RNG1, I'm not sure why you felt the need to post this or what you meant, but I was just reminding people, as I had experience with this. I was not being obstructive, as you seem to imply.

Can anyone give me the names of any of the Schools that may take someone as a guest student to top up hours? I'm not worried what State they are in, I just want a light at the end of the tunnel....

Thanks

Hi there,

This is totally possible, I fly to the USA on 29th December to go to Burlington Community College New Jersey to make up my hours. I am a psychiatric nurse here in uk so am short some medical and surgical hours.

The process was easy I contacted the college and the International advisor said to apply to the college for the Nursing programme, then I spoke to the nursing Dean who has set an appointment for when I arrive and will slot me into the classes I need. I applied for the college, got my I-20 and had my visa interview on Monday got my F1 student visa not problems, my husband got his F2 visa also. The hardest part was showing the funds needed to support ourselves $16,000 per year for me and my husband (would be $13,000 without my husband). I just had to prove the 1st year of money.

Once my hours are made up I can apply for AOS, of course if Retrogression is still in force I will just keep up my F1 status by doing any old classes or am considering switching my I-20 to the Kaplan Course for passing nclex they will issue a I-20 of international nurses to study for nclex for my F1 visa.

If I were you I would get cgfns Credential Evaluation Screen asap I applied in April still havent official heard back on what hours I need to make up!!!!! Then phone round colleges in the states you fancy going to and asking to speak to the International advisor or Nursing Dean.

If you need any more info give us a shout.

Thank you so much, I can see the light:chuckle

I am currently a 2nd year Student nurse studying Adult Nursing, I won't be short on any Medical or Surgical but I will def be short on Paeds, Maternity and Mental Health. Do you think I should contact them now, just to ask what I require. I already know how many hours I have for Med/Sur (or will have by the time of Graduation)

I am getting married in Florida in August and when I come back I will be in 3rd year, so our aim is to sell up within that year and move asap after I graduate. We are hoping to have enough money from the sale of the house. I am willing to go to any state to make up these hours. BTW do you mean Burlington County College?

Thanks

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

You can't apply for any reports until you complete your training as the university has to send your transcripts, will not be accepts if you send them
