just wondered if u r going for the full nursing programme or just the areas you r deficient in. how long is the programme and the cost pls???/

Hi there,

This is totally possible, I fly to the USA on 29th December to go to Burlington Community College New Jersey to make up my hours. I am a psychiatric nurse here in uk so am short some medical and surgical hours.

The process was easy I contacted the college and the International advisor said to apply to the college for the Nursing programme, then I spoke to the nursing Dean who has set an appointment for when I arrive and will slot me into the classes I need. I applied for the college, got my I-20 and had my visa interview on Monday got my F1 student visa not problems, my husband got his F2 visa also. The hardest part was showing the funds needed to support ourselves $16,000 per year for me and my husband (would be $13,000 without my husband). I just had to prove the 1st year of money.

Once my hours are made up I can apply for AOS, of course if Retrogression is still in force I will just keep up my F1 status by doing any old classes or am considering switching my I-20 to the Kaplan Course for passing nclex they will issue a I-20 of international nurses to study for nclex for my F1 visa.

If I were you I would get cgfns Credential Evaluation Screen asap I applied in April still havent official heard back on what hours I need to make up!!!!! Then phone round colleges in the states you fancy going to and asking to speak to the International advisor or Nursing Dean.

If you need any more info give us a shout.

Hi there,

I had to apply for the full nursing programme and show funds to support myself for the first year ($16,000 for me and dependant $13,000 for me alone) and show either funds or sponsership for the other 2 years another 2x the $16,000 to get my F1 visa. When I get to usa however I have agreed with Burlington to just make up the hours I am deficient in not do the whole programme, as long as I do 12 credits a semester my F1 visa is valid. Not sure how long it will take me as I am still waiting for cgfns to issue me my CES Report 8 months after applying so still dont know what hours I need to make up is any!!!!

If I have a lot then guess it will take me longer but if I have none I can either just do interesting courses till retrogression is over and I can file for AOS or I am also considering transfering my I-20 to Kaplan to do their nclex review course.
