Any Filipino Nurses working is Australia?

hi all,

i was wondering if there are any Filipino RNs working in australia? i would just like to ask how you like living in Oz?

my family and i were approved for permanent residency (skilled worker, although our commerce background is not in demand) in australia but given a choice we would prefer the US since we know absolutely no one from australia :uhoh21:...unlike the US where almost all of our relatives (and many friends) have moved. i hear that it is quite difficult for business management graduates to find work in australia, unlike Engineers, CPAs, IT etc.

we have 5 years (until 2011) to decide on moving to australia so in the meantime i am going to enroll as a second courser for BSN.

hope you can share your experiences,

thanks!

Ive been lurking in this forum for weeks now. I'm a bit confused with Australia's process. I've read in the other threads talking about the CAP exam, and some threads mention about having to take a 6 -12-week bridging course to orient foreign nurses on Australia's standards. Which is which for someone who has at least 1 year post-grad experience? For those undergoing the bridging program, do they have to take the CAP exam after they finish the course?

Rookie, not being rude or anything here, and ican see your point not having family in Australia. I am a filipina who grew up in Australia, and think of myself more of an aussie. Australia is indeed a lucky country! but if i were you i would take the opportunity given to you with regards to you and your family's residency. It is very hard to get into Australia, I have a friend who wanted her mother from the philippines to visit as she was having a baby, and guess what she had to come up with 10 grand for bond money before her mother could come into the country. I am not being biased, Australia is a beautiful country and think for most part, people who live there get great benefits from the govt! I dont know about you or anyone else but do you know of a country that would give $7000-$14000 to a person who is a first home buyer?? or $5000 baby bonus? if you work for public health(not sure about private), you can either get 4-5weeks leave/year or 8-10weeks at half rate!!! you get 3months paid leave after 10 years continual service or 6months at half rate!!

:prdnrs:

Then my question is why do you live in the U.S?

Hello everyone! Pls help! I am very much interested in working as a nurse in AUSTRALIA but I dont know where to start. I am an RN (batch 2005) having more than 2 years of post grad experience. I passed my IELTS, CG, NCLEX, needed for a US employment but right now there are no available VISAS for us Fil nurses that's why I opted to seek emplyment in AU instead. Can you please give me an idea on what to do? basically the simplest way? Do you know any agency that could assist me to go their as a nurse? This is my first time applying, so i dont have any idea. thank you so much!

hi rookieq.

try queensland first and then transfer to your preferred state.

queensland is not that strict with the req'ts.

hello punjabi! Are you an RN in the Philippines? how did you apply for licensure in queensland? and how did you gain work permit or visa? is the process very difficult? Did you pass through an agency? I am new to this and i dont have any idea but I'm willing to learn. Thanks

are there nurses applying to EDUCATION TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT IN AUSTRALIA/ETEA? i do need help on how to go about it.pls message me thanks

is it an advantage having a license in the us if you apply for a registration in australia? i'm thinking if they would wave the bridging course in that case, especially in queensland or victoria where regulations are not that strict compared to nsw? i'd like to here some info. thank you :loveya:

the us have a 2 year long course and a 4 year long course. if you only do the 2 year course you will fall sort of the mark because all the courses in australia are 3 years, at least.

i think it would be safe to say that you would need to be up to the same standards as local graduates to register with the nurses board of each state, and the courses have little variation in terms of what they teach.

hi ladydreamer,

if you go back to the threads it will give you a broad idea how and where to start but to save you time here's how you will start.

1. decide which state you would like to go and be registered as a nurse ( melbourne, victoria). nsw, wa, sa, queensland, nt or tasmania.

2. contact or browse their websites..victoria is www.nbv.org.au and go to overseas trained nurses initial registration assessment part.

3.download forms and gather all requirements asked. never send originals. have it photocopied and make sure to have it authenticated by justice of peace or notary public.

4. take your ielts academic version and should have a band of 7 in all areas of the test

5. wait for the result but for the meantime scout for universities offering bridging course..

6. when you receive a positive result..meaning you are deemed qualified to undergo bridging course, apply to the university you selected

7. apply for student visa to closest australian immigration office/embassy..

8..pray and wait patiently..all the best...:)

please find attached the information and application form for the 14week return to practice and initial registration program for overseas qualified nurses.

.

the cost of the program for 2010 will be $9800 aud.

all applications must include the following:

  • completed application form
  • letter from nurses board of victoria
  • ielts or oet
  • transcripts of results and award certificate of prior studies
  • full cv
  • employment statement
  • nurses registration certificate

- police check
