I'm taking a poll for a project we will be doing and need to get your input on scrubs.
So...for those of you who wear scrubs, what is your brand(s) of choice and why?
Comfort?
Price?
Required brand where you work?
Durability?
Variety of colors (or do you have to wear a specific color?
Antimicrobial?
Stain resistance?
Anything else......
Thanks for your help.
Comfort? Has to allow me to move freely - I prefer stretchy/flex fabric
Price? $50 a set or less, quality material is worth a bit extra because they last much longer. I've had cheap scrubs I only got a few weeks out of.
Required brand where you work? No, but My employer pays for 6 sets a year and the brand is mostly landau.
Durability? They need to be able to withstand being washed every time they're worn, can't get away with more than one shift in this field!
Variety of colors (or do you have to wear a specific color? - I wear white tops and grey bottoms, recently changed from all white.
Antimicrobial? - no
Stain resistance? - no
Anything else...... Must have pockets, the more the better. Pants have to have pockets on the sides of the legs.
I have scrubs in several brands and the one's I grab first [when all of them are clean] are either Taffords or Med Couture. Taffords are well made and comfortable for a store brand and reasonably priced. The only problem I've found is they run big. I usually wear a medium pant and large top, the large top was huge! More like other brands XL or even XXL. I have a few by Med Couture and while they can be a little pricey they are very well made and size consistent throughout styles.
I like soft material and need some scrubs that are very light weight for summer when it's broiling hot in that building and some that are heavier for winter. For light weight Koi Lights and Wonder Wink 4way stretch are great, though my one set of Wonder Wink has a seam that starting to ravel in one of the pockets.
I only buy expensive scrubs in a store unless they are the same brand/style I've previously purchased. Even within the same brand sizing and colors can be very inconsistent and return shipping is too much of a pain. I'll buy online if they are on sale or cheap enough that if they don't fit I can give them away without feeling like I'm out a fortune.
Now that we can wear any color we want again it's been fun scrub shopping, I got SO tired of ceil blue after 5 years of that color. Thank goodness the uniform policy quietly went away!
After our hospital tortured nurses for about 2 years, we were declared "magnet." Since then, we've only been able to wear our hospital's colors - red, black, gray. Everybody here looks like we're either bleeding to death or undertakers. It doesn't matter what brand we wear. We look like death.
Wonderwink- I like their "origins" (basic cotton/poly) line as well as their various performance lines. Fit well, have nice pockets with interior dividers, wear well, and are cheap.
I have some Cherokee Luxe and another of the fancier Cherokee lines that I can't remember because the branding marks have washed off, that are comfy but haven't worn well for the price- holes, fading, wear at the hems, and dinginess after about a year, while the Wonderwink still look basically new. Cherokee is what we're officially required to wear and is all the hospital scrubs shop sells, but nobody has ever fussed at us for other brands as long as they're royal blue.
I don't mind expensive scrubs- they're certainly cheaper than business wear, and they typically last longer too. But of course I'd rather pay less for the same quality if it's possible.
I loathe royal blue, but it is what it is and that's what I buy.
After I tried on a pair of heart soul, nothing else would do. They feel like pajamas, don't wrinkle, haven't stained yet (four months on this pair as a tech), and are affordable. They are also flattering for my body type (tall and curvy). Galaxy Blue for tech work. I bought a pair of Cherokee Infinity in navy for my Student Nurse internship this semester, and while they're comfortable, in my opinion the fit is not as comfortable or flattering.

Dickies or Cherokee are the brands that we could pick from when I started my job in order to get work to pay for the first 2 sets. I chose the Dickies because of the pockets and the style of the top (as in not a giant pillowcase but not so "fitted" that it shows off every spare ounce of fat since I have so many extra bits of flab at this point still). My job chose a Desert Sage Green which everyone else calls Lime Green but it is nowhere near that bright. They are fairly comfortable but the pants need to be retied every shift to keep them up on my hips. Pockets everywhere which is a huge plus though I don't use the cargo pockets for much more than alcohol wipes since my pants will fall down otherwise.
They are a little pricey $50 for a set on Amazon (with Prime) and another $6 for embroidery. They wash very well in cold water with a tumble dry but are sadly not stain resistant so I have various bits of ink from my pens on the pen pockets (rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer takes it out pretty well). The color can come off if you scrub out stains too firmly as well. And they have pretty dark blue stitching on the seams for contrast.
