Hi Everyone,

I am currently a BSN student with ISU, and I must say my experience has been great. I want too say too those who are not good at taking online classes this program is NOT for you. I am finishing up my first semester now, I took two classes LVN to RN as well as Physical Assessment class. It was alot of work, but all it takes is time management and you can get the work done.

You must have all your pre req complete before applying to the nursing program then you must complete the 4 nursing modules as well as the ATI TEAS exam. All the information is on on the ISU Nursing web site.

I am just starting with ISU. I have not ordered the study guide materials yet. I was wondering how hard the tests are? Do you still have your study guides and if so, do you want to sell them? Did you have any negative experience with ISU's LPN to BSN? I live in Florida and am also concerned about finding preceptor nurses in my rural location.

Specializes in OB/GYN.

I would love if you guys kept us updated as you went through the program. I am completely on the fence about what I should do. I am done with my LPN program in July and start my last Pre-req in August. I am going to try to get into a bridge program for either next may or next august, but if I can get into the BSN program and just knock it out like that, I want to do that.

Was anyone else on the fence about what to do as far as that?

If doing the ISU program how long is it to get your BSN? and how do you do clinicals?

I would love if you guys kept us updated as you went through the program. Kgeiger1 was in my cohort group for the spring isu class. I don't believe she has posted her experience but I have. You may have to go to the isu distance learning thread for my comments on the first semester.

The program requires time, time management, money, and pure sweat. everyone has been in your shoes before they decided which direction to go. read as many of the isu posts as you can and you will get an idea about the program. sadly, the other students don't blog about their semester experiences. I plan to blog at the end of each class and because I can only take one clinical class a semester, I will be blogging for a good while.

I am also considering the ISU program, but I am wondering if I could or should clep out of some of the pre reqs required, or should I look for some of these classes online and would any one know where I can or should begin, all info is greatly appreciated

Hi Kgeiger1,

I saw the Phase II modules on ebay for $300. Do you think it's ok to purchase them used? If you went directly thru TCN for them, can you tell me an estimate of what I will be spending? I'm finishing up my prereqs at my community college and hope to start Phase II by next Fall.

Thanks!

Has anyone graduated from ISU from RN or BSN program? and have you been able to find a job successfuly?

For those who are interested in the ISU distant learning LPN to BSN program, go to the distant learning site. There are a great deal of posts tehre about whether or not to buy the expensive study guides, what to do if you do not buy the expensive guides, and the nursing textbooks to sudy from.

I seriously doubt that those who have graduated from the ISU program is still haunting the student AN website.

@Kgeiger1,

I am interested to get into the program next august. I was wondering if you can give me a little advise about those challenge test, since im planning to take them starting this december. Do you think i could use my PN review books to prepare for them. What are their level of difficulty? also for the clinical is stated that we have to look for a preceptor 6 months prior the nursing program start , and some ppl find it realy difficult to even find the list of facilitites they provide to agree and get clinical, What was experience like , anything you could tell me or advise will be appreciate... I really want to get into this program next year.

Do you start clinicals in phase 2 or 3 with isu? Also is there any reason or chance for someone not to get accepted into isu program?

I am not that familiar with the terminology of "phase 1, 2 of 3". This is what I know. One you pass all your challenge exams and apply to the program, you are addmitted temporarily. You must pass the transition and the assessment classes before you are admitted to the facility as a student. The assessment class has a lab.

The next class is mental health and it too has a lab.

Also is there any reason or chance for someone not to get accepted into isu program? Sorry, don't know. I am a student and not an ISU admissions counselor.
