Here's a new sticky for students involved in online/distance BSN programs through Indiana State University. Enjoy!
Hello fellow LPN to BSN students,
I have a quick question. Has anyone taken the Interpretation of Literature lately? I have scheduled the exam for next month and just wondering how it went for you. I have ordered a book to go along with the CN module and purchased the CLEP book to go along with it. How long did you study for the exam and was it difficult / easy for you.
Thanks for your time,

Hi quick question. I went to a cruddy LPN school that ISU will NOT except my credits from. Can I test out of my a&p's and psych?? If so, HOW?? Im planning on doing my prereqs @ my CC. But Im also planning on meeting with TCN for an outline and to listen to the sales pitch :)
I have no idea. Sorry. If they won't accept your LPN credits than how can you do the LPN-BSN program? That program is based around getting credit for some classes and doing CSMs for others. Who did you talk to at ISU?

Well I asked the lady in admissions if they would accept my a and p credits from brown mackie and she said not as of right now, but maybe in the future, I would have to take that as a prereq too. I didnt think to ask if I could test out. My friend went to BM too (haha BM) and shes doing the program through TCN.
Hi,
Don't feel bad, I went to LPN School 27 years ago and none of the classes I took transferred.I went to a local community college so it wasn't a crappy school either. Back then, classes were considred NUR A&P, etc. and are not "regular credits".
When all is said and done, I will have gotten 130 credits, starting from scratch at 45. It can be done!
Good Luck.

So you couldnt test out of anything?? Im pretty fresh out of school, well 2 years, But Ive gotta brand new a&p book that I read all the time. So I think another class is just throwing money down the drain. I guess I'll just have to take it on the chin!! :) Way to go staying focused and getting those credits!!
Hi nursepeace. You can test out of the prereq classes and the general education classes. Did ISU say that they wouldn't accept your LPN program? I also had some a&p in my program but still had to take an a&p class. Your concern will be if they don't accept your LPN license and program not the prereq. You can take excelsior, clep, or dantes exams for all those.

No, I know they accept my license and program. My friends doing it already. Thanks for the info!! I always wondered what clep and dantes exams meant So how do I go about taking those test?? Do I have to be enrolled with excelsior??
HI,
I tested out of a ton of classes...I just meant that I started with 0 credits from LPN class. I have either CLEP'd,DSST or took Excelsior Tests for all Gen Ed classes except Algebra and Public Speaking which I am taking on-line now thru IVY Tech. I have applied for next Fall's semester and should be ready!
Good Luck, Brenda

Hi Chanaxanmom,
Im new to this site and was pleased to see how many nurses are trying to get into the ISU LPN-BSN program. I am trying to get in for Spring 2009. I submitted everything required but I need to pass the N-224 if Im going to get in. Its the last thing I need. I was reading a post that you wrote saying you have outlines for the course. Do you have an outline for N-224? I took it a few weeks ago and did not pass. I got a 74% and 79% is passing. UGH!!!
