In One Sentence; if you weren't a nurse, you'd be a ________

Published

We've had such a long thread regarding whether or not we'd be a nurse if we could go back in time and start over again.

Let's do something light-hearted!

I'd like to know in one sentence what your dream job would be if you could choose anything...anything at all.

My dream job would be a photographer for National Geographic.

:D

Hmmm...I'd be an independently wealthy professional student, studying anything and everything I deemed to be interesting, at universities around the globe.

Or...a Broadway singer/actor/dancer.

Or...be in a symphony orchestra...or a jazz orchestra...or maybe a symphony orchestra that also does jazz. ;)

Be a writer/journalist/photographer.

Nurse on "ER" (like the old ER, when the nurses were cooler!)

Going with the "ER" theme, personal massager of Goran Visnjic!

When I'm done taking pictures in the wild, I'm changing professions to this!!

I know what you mean about the abused little kids, Stevielynn. I was one of them, and can spot one just by a glance. The tiniest girl on my schoolbus years ago was a victim. It still breaks my heart when I think about her. She was so afraid she wouldn't even work the bus door (something I let all the little kids have a turn at to build their self esteem.) and I could see she longed to.

I could have knocked her teacher's block off for what she told me. She was so insensitive. That little girl missed more school than she went. I met her mother on her way out with the rest of her kids and a friend one afternoon. When I got to that little girl's house, she got off the bus, and holding her head down, she ever so slowly walked toward the house.

When she got to the door, her "ahem!" father opened it enough for her to enter. I just knew she was going to be abused by him again. I told that insensitive teacher, who by law was supposed to report it,:( but her reply was, "Yeah, life is tough." I literally could have taken a 2 by 4 and hit her over the head with it I was so angry.:(

I would have reported it myself if I was allowed to, but my boss told us we were not in a legal position as school bus drivers to do so. That was why I told the, "ahem!" teacher?

And by the way, I'd also like to be a prison warden in charge of reformation. As to my agenda, refer to the "Current Events" area in the thread titled, "PRISON." mY POST IS NUMBER 40.;)

I was wondering if you were a nurse at the time of the above incident because if you were wouldn't that preclude your bus driver status towards reporting this or even reporting it as a private citizen annonomously? Just curious... BTW glad to see you back online I hope you are well and feeling better.

Come on now, you don't have anything you'd like to do for yourself, apart from swooning over a celebrity?

Pathetic.

P.U.! What IS that smell? Burning troll?

If I were not a nurse, I'd like to be a mortician. Sometimes I think it would be easier to work with dead people than deal with some of the stuff we get in the OR.

I would work in the zoo, be a zoo keeper. Ive also thought of being a grocery checker, and that was more recent.

Actually, Ive always wanted to be a nurse, or a vet.

Fran,

How long ago was this abuse and where is the girl now? Couldn't you have reported it anyway? Surely, you didn't turn your head! Tell me you didn't.

Photographer. I learned in Crime Scene school how to use a manual camera. Now I do it for fun!!!!!!!!!

Specializes in Jack of all trades, and still learning.

If I werent a nurse; I wish I were my cat...lots of love and attention, time to do as I please, and food turned on whenever I want it. Time to relax, time to play. But thats not realistic sooo....

I would like to learn about different cultures. I am really interested in learning an indigenous Australian language. The ppl have so much knowledge of the land, the weather, how to survive et al. I would also lovvveee to travel for the same reason. Even if I could do all of this I dont think I would find the time :)

Seriously, work for the CFA (Country Fire Authority). At this point in time I have a lot of self reflection to do - I don't know where I am going to end up next year and if all hope was lost, this is what I'd look into. Hard work, and without doubt those fitness tests would be a real challenge. Or maybe the real question that remains to be seen is how I'd go crawling through a dark, dingy roof!
