hi if you were called in for an interview or accepted into the philips beth israel school of nursing in new york city please reply and if you do not mind post your ad percentile and your overall composite score from the nln exam. i am trying to get an idea of what range of scores is being called. i am still waiting and ready to jump. :selfbonk: i greatly appreciate it. today is 4/23/06

Congrats to you all on your acceptance to Beth Israel. I graduated a few years ago.....class of 1975! Plan to work hard and be commited to your studies!!! It was a rough 3 years, but so worth it in the end when my name was called to step up to the podium for that diploma!!! Is BI still a 3 yr diploma school? or has it gone to 4? I imagine there aren't too many of them around anymore. Enjoy your summer and be ready for the challenges that face you in the future.......

Hi, BI offer an associates and is now affiliated with Pace University so that you can prepare for your BSN/MSN degree while you attend BI. This is the reason why I wanted so badly to go to BI. Not to mention they have a great reputation as far as their faculty. I have been driving them crazy with questions and concerns before I start and they always give you their time and answer all your questions. I already like them and I have not even gotten started as of yet.

I graduated good ol' PBI in 1986 (wow 20 yrs ago) and really appreciate the training I got there (on so many levels). It was a great school then, but real tough. I worked hard and floved their approach to teaching both theory and practice at the same time (as opposed to other places that make the student sit in the classroom for 2 yrs learning theory before throwing them in the waters-which just results in paralyzing the students with fear) . I really felt prepared for almost anything when I graduated and over 80% of our class passed the RN boards on the first try!

How did the fitting day go?? after a long consideration i have decided that i will not be attending to BI but to another nursing program. Just wanted to say congrats to all of ya that are attending BI and good luck with the nursing journey!! Best wishes~

To Barbara,

May I ask you a question? I also wanted to tell BI that I will not be attending and do not wish to hold up a spot, like you said, someone is waiting on the list but since I do not have an option to decline with my acceptance letter to mail back, do i just write my only decline letter to BI?? thank you and congrats and good luck to you!!

Congrats! Officially! See you guys all at uniform fittings!

:yelclap::yelclap::yelclap::yelclap: It was a pleasure to finally meet you today at the uniform fitting. Was it hot enough for you being you are from Florida :angryfire:angryfire:angryfire. You probably saw me changing clothes in the lobby from a tank top to a polo shirt. Sorry we did not get to talk more. It got pretty busy. I think we did good getting there early. The uniform fittings were a breeze. It just started getting crazy dealing with financial aid and other issues. I actually got to pick the program I want to be in. I was to send an email back with what I would choose and I just got it over with while I was there. I must admit, it was a productive day. I am really after that book list though. One student told me they sent him to take the physical today and that they photographed him for his ID. I have not been told to do that as of yet. I would imagine soon. I look forward in talking with you a little more as things start falling into place. See you soon.

Nice to meet you!!!

And its sooooo much hotter here cause it just radiates from the pavement. Gross. Oh, and I LOVE the womens dress. I know its corny but I am so excited about getting them. What program did you pick? I am just going traditional cause I work nights. I had 3 of the 4 physical appointments already, and they said after the 4th I would have my clearance and could get an id. You already have one book right? What is it? Oh and what classes do you have to take 1st semester? I only have the 1st nursing and the math for medications class cause everything else transferred. Good call on the financial aid too, My file was all messed up and I wouldn't have even gone if you hadn't said something. Do you know anything about when grants and scholarships are being awarded?

pavement? do you mean in manhattan? i choose the atop program. very easy schedule. i have to take intro. to nursing (these are the books i was told i would need for this class fundamentals of nursing 5th edition taylor, lillis, lemone isbn# 0781744806, optional books which i purchased study guide to accompany fundamentals of nursing 5th edition isbn#0781752175, skills checklists to accompany fundamentals of nursing 5th edition isbn#0781752183 ) and the math for meds course for the 1st semester. just like you i have plenty of transfer credits, thank god. try this website to find the above books by their isbn # cheapesttextbooks.com this will help you find these books at the lowest rates. i purchased the above three for about $60, that was at least a month ago, now. unfortunately the school has not given out the info. on the books for the math class. i received a small pbisn grant along with my acceptance letter. i also applied for a nursing loan where i signed the promissory note yesterday. the max on the nursing loan is $3000 per year. not much but something. as far as the scholarships, i did apply but do not know when. in fact, i did not think of even asking but will now. how were you notified about the physicals? i have not heard so far. what is that all about? what do you have to go thru, and where is the hospital? does it take all day, everytime you go? one guy i met yesterday told me he went yesterday and took the physical and photo for his id, it sounded as if one trip was enough. oh, he did mention he received some vaccines.

i was also concerned about bls certification. during my interview i was told the school would offer the course at a nominal fee. still in the dark about that as well, do you know anything about that? sounds as if i will be seeing you during major exams only, but who knows. programs choosen by students are not set in stone yet. i only gave my response yesterday because i happened to be there at the right time. talk to you later, enjoy the cooler weather :penguin:

Hi Everyone,

I was on vacation during uniform fitting so I had to mail in my form without trying on the clothes.

I finished my physical on July 12 and got the ID card after the first visit. I had all my vaccines and one PPD already so I just had to get a second PPD and the mask fitting. They told me when I had my physical that I could not get an ID card until after I was cleared but in the letter from BI it stated that I could get it on the inital visit. I did not know who to believe so I went after my intial visit and they gave me the ID card. After you are cleared you have to go back and get a sticker on it that states when your next PPD is.

I replied to an email I got from the school and chose ATOP also.

Let me know if you find out when scholarships are being awarded.

I only need to take Nursing Fund. in the Fall and I can do a challenge exam for Math for Meds as I did this class at another school. I may take Nutrition or Micro outside of the school. I am waiting for the schedule first.

Hi Helen, I hope your vacation was really nice. It was a cruise I think. I received a small grant from the school with my acceptance letter but know nothing as far as the scholarships. I am in ATOP and I will be taking elective nursing classes at PACE University in order to work on the BSN while at BI. I requested the registration form early to make sure I get seats in the two classes at Pace. They are very expensive there. $845 per credit. Have you received the book list as of yet? I will try and find out about the scholarships today if I get some feedback I will let you know. Oh I also received an email for BLS certification and selected a date for that. There goes another $50.

hi, does anyone out there have the book list for the upcoming fall semester for phillips beth israel school of nursing??? by the way scholarships and grants may be granted by the end of next week around august 7th.

They have not finalized the class schedules yet so I doubt there is a book list available. Is it the Math for Meds you are after? They could probably just give you this if you called. I have a feeling we will get all of this at orientation.

Hi, I did get the info. for math for meds, I heard a pharmacology book is being suggested. I like to purchase my books on line. It is cheaper when purchased in advance. I am doing the medical portion this coming Tuesday and have applied to Pace for two of the elective classes. I am awaiting to hear from BI as far as taking Spanish 107 which can be used towards the BSN. I feel it is better to work on more classes the first semester since the work load is pretty light. As we progress there will be a more stressful work load from BI. So far 4 classes including Pace classes starting Sept. if Spanish 107 works out then it will be 5 classes. This would mean that by Dec. I will have 9 credits finished towards the BSN at Pace. Time to enjoy the final weeks of what is left of the summer, I will be meeting you soon. :studyowl::groupwelcome::studyowl:
