NYAUSSIE any particular questions I should be prepared with for the interview? Any feedback you can give would be greatly appreciated. How long did your interview last? What is the best way to answer the question of the role of a nurse, since nursing has so many avenues. Are there financial questions involved? Such as how will you pay for school and make a living? Questions on your personal grades? why do you want to be a nurse?Will they want to know what program you are choosing? etc.
YEAH!!!!!!Interview is really straight forward... Read your essay over cause they will ask those same questions. They also asked some questions about what you think the role of a nurse is to make sure that you have some idea of what you are getting in to cause they don't want to have someone drop out mid program she said. And the ever famous what are your strengths and weaknesses question. But they seriously are the nicest ladies, they make you feel totally comfortable. The second lady I met with (I had one at a time) was more academic. She wanted to know what subjects I find the easiest and hardest and basically explained what transfers and what doesnt and how the program is laid out.
BTW... My second interviewer gave me her card and said to call on monday (last) to find out results of the admissions committee and she said I was in!!! I havent gotten a letter yet so Im still mildly anxious that that might have been a mistake, but YAY!
thanks so much for your feedback, every little bit of info. counts to being better prepared. I greatly appreciate it. If any other of the interview questions pops up into mind please let me know. I will be reporting back after the interview, this is so very important to me. thanks again.
Mario, this is something I had posted earlier about my interview:
Just know where you want to be in Nursing in 5/10 years and why you chose BI, why Nursing and everything should be fine. I met with two different people, it took around an hour and a lot of the time they were telling me about the school's past, future and discussing the program in depth. You'll do fine. They all see like wonderful people who really care about your future. I already feel honored to be going there!
FLAtoNYC's post was also informative on this.
Good luck!
They actually did ask me if I would be working and how often while in school... I was really nervous to answer because I have to bartend at least 2-3x a week to pay for school (at my recent school I had 2 jobs and went to school full time... ughhh....) and I was afraid that they would look down on it but she laughed and said that that is what most people ended up doing. They also asked me about my prev. school history because I went to college 10 yrs ago and did HORRIBLE!!!! They asked me to explain what happened but said that my current academic record was the one that mattered to them and that I had proven I could excel. Thank God cause that was my main concern about applying to school in the first place. The program you would be entering didnt really matter... As NYaussie said b-4 it is a scheduling option and from my understanding it is something that gets decided at a later date. So good luck! We'll be thinking of you.

They actually asked me the same thing about working. I told them it depended on the workload. Right now I work full-time and go to school full-time and I know that won't be able to continue. They were happy that I was open to change my schedule.
:trout: slap me silly and wake me up. i can not believe that i got a call this morning for an interview with pbi. i am so excited. the interview is tomorrow. it is like a belated birthday gift. i have had my clothes picked out for this interview for months. have you heard from them as of yet? would you be so kind as to describe the common interview questions you were asked? i want to go in fully prepared.
congratulations on your interview! i'm sure you'll do great! sorry i didn't respond sooner... but you got a lot of good advice from everyone else so far. my interviews went great. the ladies were so nice and i felt comfortable with them. the first interviewer asked me how long i've wanted to be a nurse and what i think being a nurse entails. she also wanted to know what i'd like to be doing in 5-10 years from now. the second interviewer spoke a lot about the school and it's history. she told me how many apply, get interviews, and how many get accepted. they both asked if i work, and asked if i would be interested in the atop program. they truly seemed to care, and i was given the second interviewer's card, and told to call her with any questions.
i called them on friday, and i was told that i should receive my "full acceptance package" by the end of the week. i assume i'm in, but i won't celebrate until i actually have the letter in front of me!

:balloons::balloons::balloons: well the interview is over, what a relief. my interview lasted almost one hour fortyfive minutes. i was give a financial aid package, a business card from the assistant dean and the name and author of the text intro. to nursing one of the 1st classes. i was indirectly told i was accepted, but not told directly. i guess the paper work still needs to flow thru the usual channels. i felt as if my interview went extremely well. we talk about my schooling, work, experience in the medical field as an emt. we discussed my plans for further education and i even mentioned how there was so many positive notes on the school thru various forums. the receptionist said that my interview last longer than most. i was also told a full package would be sent soon. uniform dates, a physical, bls certification, book list to be provided, orientation date. i was essentially interviewed by the assistant dean and the 1st level leading instructor. i went well prepared to answer questions. i think we all know why and thank you. even though most of the interview was about my previous work experience with patients. i do not have a firm answer yet, but i feel so confident on how things went that i will start shopping for that book and send in the financial aid forms. a fafsa application is also required. i already filed that with beth israel as the school many months ago. talk about assuming. now how do we figure out, who is who the first day of school, which is at the end of august? so happy !!!!!!!!!!!!!:biere::cheers:
:studyowl::bowingpur:bow::bowingpur:smiley_aa thank you all for your help and your nice congradulations. i was begining to think i would not be part of the whole happy portion of this long road. i already purchased books via the internet for the first class into. to nursing. i like to get a head start and a good bargain on line. let's all stay in touch as our acceptance becomes more finalized. from what i understood, uniform fittings start sometime next month. time to save some more $$$$. talk to you all soon.
ciao :w00t::w00t::w00t:
