A new temporary guest worker program would also have to wait until those so-called "triggers" had been activated.
Those workers would have to return home after work stints of two years, with little opportunity to gain permanent legal status or ever become U.S. citizens. They could renew their guest worker visas twice, but would be required to leave for a year in between each time.
Democrats had pressed instead for guest workers to be permitted to stay and work indefinitely in the U.S.

You don't need to worry. The way I understand it the quote you are referring to is for those who are here illegally and the way the US government wants to handle dealing with a "guest worker program". This does not apply to nurses who are legally coming to the US.

they won't care if they get our votes or not, they will have millions of illegals that they are going to fast track

All that was discussed today, and it still has not been voted on in the Senate, so has not gotten anywhere near being approved is strictly for illegal immigrants. And there was talk of 400,000 temporary worker visas. But these are not for nurses, and you would not want one. They will be good for two years only, and then required to leave the US for one year minimum. They are not renewable to continue to stay in the US at the end of that time period.

And please be aware that most facilities will not touch anyone with that type of visa. Any hospital that is unionized will not permit a temporary worker visa like this. And no facility would want to train someone knowing that they have to leave after the two years since that visa cannot be renewed.

Again, not one mention of nurses.

Yes, this is correct. That particular part has nothing to do w/ nurses.

The provision for nurses has always been green cards ever since and the provision that is widely expected to be part of CIR is the provision on no visa-cap until 2017.

Just is not going to happen. And once you were here, you would not want that, definitely not fair to American nurses..............agencies would be taking advantage of nurses all over the place. not a good thing.

All I'm saying is that all previous versions of CIRs has always included that same provision. I think no foreign nurse is pushing if it should be a no visa cap for 10 years or cap-limited to a certain number per year just like an H1B. Foreign nurses know that they have no say on this and would just be happy whatever would be given and all I'm saying is the no visa-cap 10 year provision for nurses has always been included in every re-incarnation of and diff. versions of CIRs and it is widely expected that it would be again be part of this recent reincarnation.

I understand that the nursing unions would not want this and for good reasons but that's what foreign nurses always read and what I'm just re-stating but whatever is ultimately given and included in the final CIR and if ever it would pass Congress I'm pretty sure foreign nurses will accept whatever it is and be happy with it.

Foreign nurses would just be patiently waiting on what is the final provision for them if ever CIR passes in Congress.

it is widely expected that there would be a provision for nurses incorporated in the final cir. you can refer to post #325 for it. whether it be a no visa cap or a cap-limited one is still up in the air and no one really knows for sure what the final provision will be until the final draft of the cir is made public (if ever it passes congress that is) but there will be one for nurses. besides, we don't have any say on it. we just have to wait what materializes and agreed upon.
