This is just for the purpose of getting updated or informed and do note that nothing is absolute and in fact things are very fluid or volatile when it comes to immigration matters.

hi lawrence,do y know when they are going to disccuss schedule A next time?
they are moving like turtles.. right?
No one has any idea if anything will be under Schedule A or another title when the visa open up.
They are not discussing Schedule A as it does not exist anymore. There are discussions going on continuously behind the scenes, but until they actually get submitted as a bill and get passed or two different things.
Do not expect anything to open up until this summer at the very earliest.

when he appeared in yuma, ariz., last week to deliver an endorsement of "comprehensive immigration reform"-shorthand for a border-security bill with a guest-worker program-president george w. bush said he thought "the atmosphere up there [in washington] is good right now" for such a bill. the sunny statement matched the arizona morning, but it may not reflect the current reality.

perfect storm" of nursing shortage
[color=#7b8694]april 16, 2007 (la crosse, wis.) - a la crosse health care administrator calls it a "perfect storm" of a nursing shortage.
more nurses will be retiring over the next few years, the demand for nursing care will be even greater and there are fewer instructors to teach nursing students.
diane holmay is vice president of nursing at franciscan skemp. she says the combination means plenty of nursing vacancies.
holmay says the shortage is leading to an increase in wages and better career opportunities. a study by the american heart association says there are more than 118-thousand openings for registered nurses nationwide in 2006.

I've heard a proposal something to that effect but that would be for new applicants only, if ever, but somehow I doubt it will ever see the light of day.
The point system used by Canada, UK and AU/NZ seems to give extra points to younger applicants (usu. those less than 40 yo), w/ living relatives in the country, can speak French (for certain provinces in CAN), the 'show me the money', etc.. It may be interpreted as "Un-American like".
