You're generalizing older female nurses and that isn't fair. If you have a problem with a few nurses you work with talk about that, what they've done, how they make you feel, what they say, etc. You're anger is palpable, but don't stereotype.
None of what you say has happened to me. Thank goodness.Older nurses are very adapatable as they have adapted to all kinds of technology changes, changes in patient care delivery systems, sicker patients, DRG's, on and on and on. They've seen more and have adapted to more in their careers than you can possibly imagine.
Wow, I am so surprised by the lack of respect, and the ignorance that the old nurses give to male nurses. I mean it isn't like there is an underground movement by men to replace female nurses. So why the threatened attitudes? Why the harsh comments? Why the inability to adapt in a field that requires constant revision and critical thinking? Try recognizing the advantages, and stop tripping up on your own negative thoughts, please.
Perhaps you should stop referring to experienced nurses with derogatory terms.
Being a "male nurse" doesn't make you special. Being a nurse makes you special.
i think that the word old is getting you in more trouble with our more "experienced" and "worldly" nurses.
please don't generalize.thanks.
i personally have been treated very poorly in the past by nurses who were young and female as well. i am a female so i can't speak for you but i am sure that not all of them treat you badly. if so, then maybe it's the facility rather than all "oldies"
