Ok, the condensed version...

This past month I've had 2 4th grade girls fake getting their first period as a way to get out of class and possibly be sent home.

I am not sure how to proceed. I do not want to embarrass either one of them, but I feel it should be addressed. Both girls will try anything to get out of class.

What would you do?

See, that's just it, I am used to managing this.. I am very matter-of-fact about it. It's more the deception I need to address.

Is it a 4th grade issue at all schools?

Every year 4th graders are heavy frequent flyers here and, worse, those teachers don't try to curb the problem. They come in with obviously faked issues and it really becomes a problem throughout the school year and this particular nurse I know loses her compassion and the kids lose their credibility.

Every year this nurse has a chat with these 4th grade teachers and tensions get tighter. It's just some people I know.

What is the deal with 4th grade??? Same thing here.

But really, Our district was realigned this year. Fifth grade now stays at the elementary campus. That adds 110 kids to tend to but that's for a different thread. Anyway, I've had two 5th graders have the initial onset of menses (how's that for professionalism) at school. Uh, Er, Uh, Er...well, Uh, Oh, Uh, Er...I stock all that stuff and we made it, talked to parents, etc, but YIKES, I'm an elementary school nurse, elementary school kids don't do that!!!!

Rub it in

4th graders are my frequent flyers. What sucks if the teacher doesn't allow them to come see me then the teachers could get into trouble if the students are seriously hurt.

For me, it's the 7th graders. Teachers let them come to my office all the time. I think any grade becomes a FF if it has teachers that allow it.
