Well actually I do know what to do next..APPLY to nursing school but im scared... I don't have great grades im a B student and I repeated 2 classes(anatomy and micro.) ANYONE In the same boat???? OR AM I THE ONLY PERSON ON HERE WHO DOESN'T HAVE STRAIGHT A'S AND HASN'T REPEATED ANY CLASSES.....PLEASE TELL ME IM NOT ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are not alone.

At the rate I'm going in A&P this semester I'm sure that I'll be retaking this class again and honestly I've been thinking about dropping out and just being happy with my life, but that would be too easy to run away..I am going to attempt to bring my weekly quiz grades up and do the best that I can.

Apply if you can. If you do not make it the first time, you will not crumble up and die. Apply again.

While you are at it, find out what you need to do at your school to be competitive and just do it. You have nothing to lose. If you do not make it, don't let it be for lack of trying or because you were not a good applicant.:nono:

I did not make it my first time. I contacted the Director of the school and an Academic Counselor and asked what I could do to improve my application. I was told that I had to complete all of my co-requisite courses before the end of the summer and earn all A's to be competitive for this Spring. I did it (even though I wanted to get some sleep during the summer) and now I am in... 60 others were not so fortunate. Good luck. :wink2:

Dont let your grades stop you. My school only looks at the nursing pre-requistes. That means all the grades I made 20 years ago dont count. As of now, I have a 3.76 gpa. Go and talk with an advisor.

Very few people make it in the first time.

I'm sitting on a 3.14 in all classes and a 3.0 in nursing pre-reqs and my applications are due Feb 1.

You are not alone!

The one school I am trying to get in says that if you can write amazing essays you hold a chance. They don't just look at grades.

YOu'll always wonder if you don't at least try....go talk to folks at the school if you want the bottom line where you're applying, but you certainly don't want to just give in at this point!!

Don't talk yourself out of it before you're even IN it!! :)

You are not alone. I'm in the same boat. I'm not an A student, I have a 3.69 GPA and of the three pre req's I got one B and I'm very nervous. Besides, I can't do anything now to get a 4.0 gpa and for my B class can't t retake it until summer. That means that if i'm not in for january I have to reapply in march and then .....retake it. Just do your best and the rest is not in your hands. don't give up!!!!!!

You are definately not alone! I am also a B student. I'm at a 3.33 now trying to get my GPA up to a 3.55 this semester before I apply in January. I had a bad first year in college. Had some health issues and ended up dropping some classes and very poor grades in other classes. Unfortanetly there is no way to tell a school on your application that you had an emergency surgery mid-semester and missed a month of classes due to health reasons. All you have is a haunting transcript! I am applying to a school that not only looks a GPA, but bases your acceptance on a variety of things in hopes that other areas can strenghten a not perfect GPA. All I can do is apply (and hope and lots of prayer!) Same for you! Just go for it. Apply to a variety of programs. And if you don't make it in first time around, dust yourself off and try again. I know easier said that done, but really you can either give up or go on! Best of luck to you! And all of us really!

I have just been turned down after my second time applying to the nursing program at my school. I have been taking classes for 2 1/2 years while working full-time as a Paramedic. My sister-in-law got into the program on her first attempt. She is a stay-at-home-mom whose kids are all in school, which affords her plenty of quiet study time. Meanwhile, between EMS runs, I am studying my butt off and have a 3.0 GPA and I can't even get accepted into the program. I know that I can do it. I have been taking care of patients for over 10 years. And, to top it all off, my new past-time is explaining procedures and physiology of disease processes to my sister-in-law to help her through school. Don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge her anything. She worked hard to get in too. It just ticks me off because I am helping her and I can't even get in myself!!! I know I can make it through the program, if they will just give me a chance.:nono:

I just wanted to point out that while I totally understand your frustration and understand the point you're trying to make, that unless this SAHM doesn't cook (i.e. shop for groceries, do dishes, clean out her leftover both before and after cooking), do laundry (more shopping for soap/fabric softener, sorting, folding, putting away), clean house (more shopping for cleaning supplies, vacuum bags), or transport kids anywhere, including the doctor, dentist, dance, sports, etc., she's really not dealing with "plenty of quiet study time"....take it from a former SAHM....she's squeezing it in between all of the above and more!!

Best wishes to you!!

That's really tough too. I'm also a SAHM and only have time to study when my kids (5 and 3 year old) are in bed (and sleeping) arround 9pm. It was very hard for me too. I'm still waiting but a friend got her letter last friday and I don't have anything yet. At least I don't have a NO for answer yet. I have a 3.69 and if I'm not accepted I don't have any idea on how to change the B I have for an A unless I retake the class but that would be until summer. That means one more year of waiting.

Do you know like how many students that get their acceptance letter say no?

Well...at my house, I have no kids, but have to squeeze in fixing dinner 6 nights a week (DH grills on Sundays), doing all of both of our laundry, doing dishes, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning the cat box, etc. around my 30 hour a week job and the nursing prereqs that I'm taking. That's the problem with us working women - we usually still wind up doing the majority of the housework. It's not that my DH doesn't want to help me, it's that when he does one chore or cooks one meal he expects all this praise and then thinks he's done for the week. Needless to say, my apartment isn't very clean.
