I'm really struggling with A&P need some support =(

Hey guys, haven't been on here much due to studying and working like crazy! I put my notice of resignation in at work and my last day is next wed so i hope that helps me out too! I'm REALLY stressing and struggling with A&P! So glad i took H&S first because i did so well i want to keep going- now i knwo why i quit the program every time i started with A&P!!! =)

I took the first practice test and got a 41% no biggy because i took it the first week i began studying and i didn't expect it to be all that great! Well i thought i was through with studying and took the second one and got a 54%!!! OMG!!! So I changed my testing date from June 30 (the first time) to July 30th, and now i STILL do not feel ready so i pushed it back to August 30th. Since i'm using a grant to pay for this i HAVE to take it by Sept. 30th. I just do not know what else to do!!!

Sorry to vent i'm just getting really stressed with all of this! I've used the content guide, i've gone through the textbook, i used SG101 notes, and YouTube lecture videos. I thought i prepared well but now i feel like i need to start over from scratch only i'm not sure what i can do differently!

the vangonotes that you can download to the computer and listen to are really good suprising enough! i did that today and they break things down really really welll and then they come on and do an oral quiz and i was getting most of the answers right. i think i might have found somehting that will help! Aug 9th testing date, i know i moved it back up! i NEEDEd the pressure i think so i can learn what i need to to get this exam out of the way!

I did poorly on those practice exams -- I think the best I got was a 62. I got a B on the actual exam, and was very happy with that! It's a lot of material, plain and simple. A LOT. I think the exam was heavier on physiology, but also required that you know your anatomy.

Are you an audio learner? I know I am, and I probably would have gotten an A on the exam if I'd known about Dr. C's lectures before I tested: http://itunes.apple.com/podcast/biology-2110-2120-anatomy/id290170401

Thanks for posting this! I am definitely an auditory learner. This is great and very helpful.

I took A&P about a month ago after studying 6 months...yes, I tend to overstudy! Used Lisa Arends, bought a cheap TCN on ebay, 3 different text books, cliff notes and took the practice exams getting a 52 and a 38...in that order! Was petrified to take the test...got an A! Relax, and study everything on the content guide, you never know what will be on it out of all the information...that's the scary part. You'll do fine if you prepare.:nurse:

If it helps any I am right there with you. I was actually INSANE enough to leave it for last. My CPNE is coming soon and A&P is after that. I knew that I would work hard and finish fast if it was the only thing standing between me and my RN. Hang in there everybody.

I thought the same thing too. I wished I had completed my last requirement before CPNE. I ended up failing it guess I got cocky and didn't put much into passing after all I did pass the CPNE.

uggghhh just took my second practice test and got another 41 i'm really really scared of this one! I cannot afford to fail an exam, i HAVE to pass and i'm getting really panicky...i just moved my test date AGAIN...uggghhhhh

This is really driving me nuts trying to figure this out. As a student in A&P 2 can anyone here please tell me how or why Nurses dont know A&P? I can see that you may need to take it over again because your credits expired and you want to move on. I have a nurse in my class who is retaking 1 and 2 because of that. The teacher jokes around that he could teach the class he knows it so well. How do you make it thru Nursing school without knowing all this?

It's not that LPN's doing the RN program don't know Anatomy. I care for an influx of varied medical issues on a daily basis and have enough knowledge of anatomy to do that effectively. However, do I remember from 4 years ago about the chemical make-up of cells in detail or the physiological response of every neurotransmitter and hormone in the body???? NO! The A&P through Excelsior is a combination of both A&P 1 & 2 combined with one test at the end...an insanely huge amount of material that you must know ALL of in order to be prepared for what may be on the exam. The basic Anatomy that nurses must know on a daily basis is not indicative of what is needed for this exam. LPNs DO know Anatomy, but I'm sure none of us claim to be experts on it. After passing the exam with an A, I feel I know much more. Once I have my RN and don't use this info on a daily basis, I'm sure I will again no longer be an expert on A&P, but will have retained enough to perform quality care.

Thanks for explaining that, it makes more sense to me now. I had a feeling that all this chemistry and microbiology was just to weed out potential nursing students. I have a big test tonight in A&P 2 and its mostly all microbiology and chemistry. I already had those classes and cant understand why we are focusing on the microscopic details of the anatomy and physiology.

So how are my other EC A&P teammates doing? UGGGHHHH hating this exam right now...been reviewing every day and still feel stupid...blah...Just need to get this done and fast, i think micro is fast becoming an online class instead of exam for me at this point...i dont care if i have to pay more! =)

It's daunting to say the least, I would never, ever want to study for another exam like this one. I just wish it was over so I can finally be a GN. Stick with it though, and if you can do AP then you can surly do Micro.
