I need help with the following problems:

The doctor orders Morphine Sulfate 8mg SQ for your terminal cancer patient. The vial on hand is a 20 ml with a concentration of 15mg/cc. How many cc's would you administer? To administer the correct dose, what size syringe would be most appropriate to use?

The doctor orders Keflin 500mgs. IM. The vial is 1 Gm. Keflin, to be reconstituted with 6cc sterile H20. How many cc's would be required for the doctor's order?

Thanks

What part(s) of the problem are you stuck on? Do you know how to set it up? It helps when you show your work so we know what exactly you need help with.

I need help setting it up.

What do you need help with? Are you taking a step back and thinking about what the questions are asking you?

Dose ordered is 8mg, you have 15mg/mL on hand. How many mL do you give?

You're already a nurse? Whats the story here?!? I'm confused.....

Wait....is this a question for a job application?

If so, and you can't do this dosage calculation I'd really reconsider and maybe take a refresher course.....

Doctor order divided by on hand x vehicle = the dose. Put the equation in that formula.

I don't get why no one ever helps out students without basically making em seem like idiots. OBVIOUSLY if they are asking for help they dont understand it. Jesus christ. Theres more drama on this website than a snapped marathon.

Hmmm. Your post is the most dramatic part of the thread. Do you not see the irony?

The reason we didn't help this poster is because they are cheating.

How do I know?

1) They posted the questions to their homework/test verbatim.

2) They didn't explain what concept they were having trouble with so we could help them.

3) They didn't come back after we didn't just do the questions for them.

Also, several posters have already mention d/h x v.

AN isn't an answer mill. We expect the students to actually learn so they can medicate patients safely. Dosage calc is simple math and is a basic skill that needs to be mastered.

the IRONY of this is, you are now acting like you genuinely cared to help. child please, the undermining tone from your previous response speaks wonder alongside the other two who seemed to want to basically make the OP feel like a idiot.

in regards to number 3. why would they come back if that's the type of response they would be getting? hell I wouldn't. The only silly thing I thought the OP did was to ask help from anyone on this website. all yall do is argue and inflate each other's epeen-ego.

@OP your better off talking to a rock to find help than seek it here.

LOL!

"child please"

:lol2:

Yikes. When posters post a homework question without any indications that they attempted to figure it out themselves, most members are not really anxious to spoon-feed them the answers.

And it is odd that the OP is already a nurse and doesn't know how to solve these kinds of problems already. This would make me question her abilities with med calculations (which is not safe practice for a nurse).

Since PPs have already indicated how to set up the problem, I have nothing additional to add.

And the answer is!!!..........

And the answer is!!!..........

42!

Thanks for all the fish ;)
