The joy comes to me when I know that I passed the nursing school. Nursing school was hard but I was never a quiter. I am happier when I receive my state license. Passing NCLEX, I'm a nurse now. I'm proud of myself (self center...maybe). But my dream comes true. I thought I could make a differences .... after NCLEX. However, it has been 4 months now and I am still unemployment. I have been seeking for a job for 4 months. First, I thought ok that is a job I like...I got an interview...yeah "u have no experience". Ok, that position is my second favorite ... "we hired too many new grad..." 4 big hospitals in area and not a single position for me? is it because my English is broken; I was not so bright in class? or ...for whatever reasons.
My passion, my care, my love, my commitment... I cant carry out unless I have a job. I just feel sad and disappointed.

Don't worry...I graduated almost 7 months ago and cannot get a job. I graduated from a well known reputable university with my BSN and have over a 3.5 GPA and still haven't had any luck. You're not the only one having a hard time so hang in there! I've accepted that I'm not going to get to start in a speciality like I wanted to. And I'm prepared to apply for everything out there and take the first position offered to me.
The new grad program at my local hospital which I've been trying to get into told me to keep my eyes open for when the app was posted online and I did but it was never posted and when I called to see when it would be they told me all of the spots were already filled with internal applicants. So I basically was lied to and then not even given the chance to apply. Some days are more discouraging then others just remember you graduated nursing school and passed the NCLEX and no one can take that away from you. Just practice your skills and keep learning so when you are offered a job you're prepared and ready! Good luck!

There are many native English speakers who can't find work, either. Since you mentioned it first, it would be my opinion that yes, your English is not good, and that is just one easy reason to discard your applications out of hand without meeting you.
Advice? Please, while you are out of work, put some serious effort into improving your English. Even if you get a job serving people in your native language, in an urban clinic, for example, you will still need better English.
Completely agree with you. That is why I am working on my English now and also re-read my kaplan book so I dont forget what I have learned. Hopefully, that I dont have to read and learn for too long....

I know how frustrating it can be to find your first job after passing boards. I applied to every job I could find a listing for, it was frustrating when all of my friends were getting jobs and I was not. I even started showing up in person to places to try to meet with managers to get anything they had to offer. After months of applications, I started getting phone calls for interviews. At one point I got 2 offers on the same day, neither was my first choice, but I got some experience and it got me a better job later on. Don't give up, keep putting out applications, talk to friends who have jobs, shadow nurses if you get the chance, make phone calls, talk to people. There is a job out there for you, it may take a while to find, but don't give up, you have worked too hard to get here!

Have you thought about possiblly moving to another area that is underserved? Maybe getting away from the bigger hospitals that are attracting all the new grads, going with a smaller one that not everyone is looking at? Or even something you havn't thought of like a nursing home?
Thanks for the input twinmommy! I have not thought about nursing home or small clinics yet. Reason being is because I want to get really sharp with my skills. But if I have no choice, then maybe I will get watever is on table.

Moving to First Job Hunt Assistance to help get you some more responses.
OP: it's a very bad job market out there for new nurses, even for the best of them. I think it's wise of you to try to get whatever you can and start getting actual RN experience because to be honest, new graduates can't afford to be too choosy.
Consider that this first job is just that: a first job. No one says that it has to be forever, or that it will determine your career path for life. Or that you can't look for other positions while you're working.
Best of luck!

Most people from my 2012 graduating class are working in a nursing home. A couple got into VNA or doctors offices. The 2 major hospitals in my area do not hire new grads, but a year in a nursing home is considered good experience. Take what you can get! Eventually you will get where you want to be! I'm at my 5 month mark at a nursing home and will start applying to other places in about 5 months. Good Luck!!
