I have violated a hospital policy, not in patient care or a hippa violation, but I've made a mistake of hooking up with a coworker in the parking lot after work. This ended up to the manager, and we had a meeting with HR, and now I'm on a leave. They claimed it was a sexual act on the company premises and there is witnesses.
I'm devastated, i feel completely retarded and that shouldn't have even happen, but people make mistakes, I'm a hard worker, and now awaiting their decision, there's 90% i'm getting fired because of this.
The thing i'm worried about is what's going to happen if i applied to other jobs, would this affect me at all? is it confidential or what is going to happen?
if anyone has an insight on this will be much appreciated
I apologize, i didn't know where to post this, i'm just stressed out and beating myself everyday for this mistake.
That's a mess.
I've known people who have gotten fired, quit on their own or a just a big time warning for fooling around at work.
Hormones... they'll get ya everytime.
Anyway, I always hear it said that one shouldn't quit until they actually have another job, but you don't really know what's going to happen... that's a mess.
I say keep filling out those applications if you don't want to risk it. In the meanwhile, they haven't actually said they were going to fire you, did they?
Good luck.
Jeesh!! What a judgey bunch of people we have here!
Sure, she messed up but who did it really hurt other than herself? She came here looking for support from her fellow nurses and you all get on your high horse and start condemning her like a bunch of nuns.
It's no wonder nursing can be so miserable sometimes. There is no solidarity and the profession is full of a bunch of hollier-than-thou prudes who would turn on their own in a heartbeat. She wasn't asking anyone to approve of what she did, just looking for support for her peers. I'm ashamed to be a part of a profession that treats each other this way.
Are you kidding? We strive to be treated as professionals.Don't you see how this kind of thing is a problem? Most of us have worked with staff who did the dirty in the LTC,hospital, doctor's office, etc. Is that really the kind of nurse YOU want to be?Sorry but its' not the kind of nurse I want to support and show solidarity with. They are not 14 yrs old. As professionals we are held to a higher standard-it's not as if they worked at Subway and did it behind the dumpster after their shift. To the OP-I hope you have learned from this and are sorry you did it,not just sorry that you were caught. You know how tough the job market is-good luck....Jeesh!! nurses are human too, so stop judging people. I am a patient advocate in the nursing setting, but when i clock off, i do whatever i want, it's no ones business, but i misjudged this and made a huge mistake.
