Im not judging but I've always been incredibly curious what the ratio of "I want to be a nurse because it's my life dream" vs "I want to be a nurse because I need the money" is. So my question to you is (Honestly)
Are you in nursing for the money or because you want to be.
Edit: Im curious on all ranges, non-professional and professional. I just lump everyone together so I'm sorry if there is any confusion.
Those only "in it for the money" are taking jobs away from those of us who WANT to be there.....and not giving the pts the same quality experience the rest of us do! I'm not saying they don't provide adequate care - most of them do - "adequate". Those of us who would do-this-for-free-if-it-paid-the-rent give pts something extra, an intangible.
Get over yourself, like yesterday.
When were you promoted to judge and jury on anyine in nursing?
Or did I miss the memo?
You can't judge someone by thier motivations for going into nursing. For all anyone knows that nurse who got into the profession for the paycheck will do an excellent, above and beyond, job, because she wants to keep that paycheck and increase its amount. And the nurse who had a "calling", well maybe in some cases the ability to do job well did not come with that calling and its all she can do to keep from killing a patient.

Hrmmm...I'm not in it for the money. I don't need to work. If I get fired or laid off, it's not that big of a deal to me financially. That sounds a bit scary, too, doesn't it?
I went into nursing for reasons that I thought were the reality of the field, but now that I'm in it, I know it's not the reality. I'm a bit disillusioned.
However...
I am a damn good worker, and I give my patients the best care possible. I go above and beyond. It has everything to do with the fact that I couldn't live with myself if I didn't work to the best of my ability. That's called work ethic. It has nothing to do with a "calling" NOR the money.
I have chosen this profession, put a lot of money into my education, and I'm not leaving it. Sorry, I'm not handing my job to you because you *think* you'd be better at it just because my reasons for being a nurse don't live up to yours.

you're kidding, right? oh, i hope you're kidding. you must be kidding.
OP, actually your poll can be only as honest as one made by staying in a formal wear store 5 weeks before prom and asking every girl coming in if she "absolutely honestly" prefers her dress black or white, with bubblegum pink and shimmering purple being the hottest colors of the season. You cannot ignore the whole rainbow, even if you like only one color.
