Grady Telemetry Interview
You have been so helpful, I was wondering if you could send me the answers to the same questions that motivated mommy asked (pay, what you did to get noticed, how much experience you have). It would be great if you could. I'm getting my resume ready and Grady is my first choice. I know it's harder to get a job without a BSN but obviously you did something right! Thanks in advance

Grady Telemetry Interview
Hi, do you mind telling how the interview went? Did they ask a lot of situational questions? I just passed the NCLEX and I'm planning on applying to Grady. Thanks in advance.

Im curious and want to see absolute honesty
You can't judge someone by thier motivations for going into nursing. For all anyone knows that nurse who got into the profession for the paycheck will do an excellent, above and beyond, job, because she wants to keep that paycheck and increase its amount. And the nurse who had a "calling", well maybe in some cases the ability to do job well did not come with that calling and its all she can do to keep from killing a patient.

Thinking of starting nursing school at 47
When I took the compass at 29, I scored low on the math part as well and had to take two remedial courses. It's not that I was bad at math, just that I didn't remember all the formulas for graphing equations and such that I learned in high school. I don't think it that unreasonable for that stuff to fall out of your head if you never use it. So the beginners algebra was just like a refresher to me - like "oh yeah, I remember this stuff". I got A's in both remedial classes and College Algebra. I'm glad I took the remedial classes because College Algebra would have been tough without them. And I think if you can get through them all, then clinical calculations shouldn't be too hard. Good luck!

Recession isn't only thing holding millennials back; basic skill sets missing
I usually have a pretty good attitude and my behavior and demeanor are sometimes dependent on the environment. I see nothing wrong with pointing out how silly something sounds on a message board, which I would not treat the same way as an interview. To clarify my question so as not too sound snarky, what is the difference between quietly texting or otherwise using your smartphone and quietly reading a magazine? Are both disrespectful? Because I just see both as a means to pass the time.

Subee - The article actually mentions not texting in the lobby while waiting for the interview. The article reeks of "oh the youth of today. " It's a never ending cycle - older generations are always going to complain about the shortcomings of the younger set and wax poetic about the "good ole days". Society evolves whether you like it or not as does technology. I mentioned reading magazines in an earlier post because before there were iPhones to entertain you while waiting in a lobby, that's what you did. I never thought that was a big issue so I don't see how looking at your phone (whether it be text or actually reading a magazine on it) would be such a turnoff to employers. Sorry for any errors. I'm posting from my iPhone. Laugh out loud.

You really can't do anything but sit demurely with your ankles crossed while waiting to be interviewed? What if you are fifth in line and its going to be an hour? Can you read a magazine or something, or does that too say you are too unprofessional?

Hopeful Georgia Highlands Fall 2012 RN applicant
Ugh, still freaking about getting everything done! Went to health dept in Woodstock yesterday. When I called I was told varicella titer was $16.50. When I got there it had magically jumped up to $58 so I didn't get it. Can I go to Cobb county health dept if I don't live in Cobb County? Can't get the varicella vaccine right now b/c I'm in the process of getting the TB tests (First one done, yay, I don't have TB) Health dept. was also out of Hepb vaccine ugh! I haven't filled out the immunization sheet for the college either. Has anyone else not done this? I can't get the tdap either until I finish the next tb test. This is so annoying! I also need to schedule for a cpr class. Hope I can get this stuff done!

Hopeful Georgia Highlands Fall 2012 RN applicant
Ok so today I got my passport photo, took my drug test for my background check, and got my first tb test. Trying to decide if I should get a varicella titer done. I had a very mild case of chicken pox as a child so who knows if it gave me immunity. The NP who did my tb test says I cant get any live vaccines while I'm getting the tb testing done. Anyone found a cheap place for titers, or vaccines for that matter?

You should still be able to access score. Go to the check admissions status to get your student ID if you don't know it. Your password is your birthdate.

I didn't get anything in the mail today either. Maybe tomorrow. I'm not sure about my overall gpa and I think my score is 1417 if I did it right.

Please please please let our letters get to us tomorrow! As for financial aid I am going to have to fill out a special circumstances form as well. Right now I qualify for some Pell but not the full amount.
