I got the job!

The money is excellent for up here, I get my own office, I work human hours with weekends off unless we have a system issue, and I am excited!

I start Friday!

I got my physical and peed in the cup so I'm good to go.

Congratulations! This sounds so nice for you. Please feel free to add whatever celebratory graphics seem appropriate, as I seem to have reached my level of maximum proficiency with the demon boxes.

a piece of advice - continue on-line for your rn. that helped me a lot. even though i don't have it yet it matters. and do a year of clinical, even passing meds in a nursing home.

and you'll do it. no question.

:)

thanks, everyone. i am so excited.

yup thank you so much sue. i already have the fundamentals and med-surg books for ec so hopefully i can start focusing on it when i passed my nclex-pn. i am still doing all the exit exams right now.

thanks for the advice. good luck with the new job (and ec) and keep us posted.

Thanks again, all.

Angel, I'm done with all of the tests. Now I'm waiting for a CPNE date and have already cleared taking time off for the workshop and CPNE and NCLEX-RN.

I plan on continuing for the RN-MSN in clinical informatics.

Specializes in Urgent Care.

I was a network engineer for 10 years prior to becoming a nurse (well graduating in march) How much time do you have to spend in nursing before this would be an option? or what other training might I need if/when I decide to switch gears from med/surg?

You'd need a year of clinical, max.

Of course, it depends on where you are. The ad read "BSN preferred," but the DON here is a diploma nurse.

I had NO training for this at all, just a programming background with a diploma from The Chubb Institute.
