If you could have one nursing superpower, what would it be?

I had a rough day at work today. There was a patient that started to go bad on me and I ended up calling a rapid response on her and sending her to ICU at another hospital. I found myself wishing I could literally predict the future, particularly my patients' futures, so I can stop things like this from happening.

Here's my totally off-the-wall discussion topic: If you could have one super power, one that you could only use while you're at work, which would it be and why? Just curious. Thanks!

I would like to have the ability to take home a paycheck but never go into work.

Ha! Auto GOMER - Love it!! Just picturing a little red button on each stretcher. As soon as the (stable) pt starts being a pain, hit the button and watch then be ejected through a trapdoor in the ceiling. Ahhhh now THAT would definitely make my life easier. And a lot more fun!

Personally, I would ask for the ability to know what was going to happen to each of my clients, in the immediate future whilel they were under my care. That way I could be pro-active, in caring for each client. If one was going to go into V. tach, for example, I could carry a syringe of Lidocaine in my pocket, ready to inject IV. Not knowing what is going on in another room has always been a concern of mine, as I have wondered if spending a lot of time with an emotional client was harming indirectly another client in another room. Strangely enough, I have had dreams in which I have had precog 'glimpses' of what my next shift will hold, and have at times spooked my colleagues by telling them that I had dreamt that at 1046 hrs my client in room five would arrest, and need two defibs to bring him back, and then it would take place just as I had said. But I want more of that ability. Guess I am not satisfied with what I already have!

My superpower would be to magically make the supervisor remain in her office for the entire shift so that us working people could get things done.

My super power would be the ability to make my patients poop(and without the mess and smell). Because pooping is a big deal

Have you tried telling them what their visit is going to cost? Might not help with smell & mess tho'.
