I have seen a couple of posts about the motives of students/career changers/people going into nursing . I thought of the question and I want to know.
If RN pay became regulated and new grads had to start at $8.50 and the cap was $17...
1. would you still go into nursing ?
2. would you quit nursing?
why and why not.
Personally I think it's a great question. I've seen too many people criticizing others for choosing to enter nursing for money or reasons other than compassion. I believe the first thread on the homepage is something to this extent.
Everyone has their limits and what they will and won't do for what price. No way I'd be studying this hard for that much money.
"I am wondering why this poster even asked a question like this? Maybe nothing better to do?? Who in their right mind would honestly answer "yes"? At least when some posters put a rhetorical question out there for reactions, they will, at the very least, give their own answer to start. Has anyone noticed that there is no follow-up response by the OP. Ridiculous waste of time....jmho"What she said.....
I may be wrong, but I'm thinking the OP started this thread to actually find out what people truly thought. Many have been condemned for the reasons in going into nursing, so yeah for the "truly" selfless, that pay should not be a hindrance! Right? Wrong!
Life is no joke, so if you're going to take care of it, you at least want to be recompensated equally for it. Just think of all the risks and hazards involved.
Wow, man can never be satisfied. Wow.
Doing and being held responsible for almost everyone's job in the hospital(pharmacy, doctor,rt,social worker, therapist etc) including the nurses own job ....adds up.
So one should be satisfied doing and being blamed for everything and everyone elses mistakes?

Not really, because the selfless still need to eat and sleep. And probably many of the selfless have children. Only nuns could truly be selfless since they got room and board with their job.
