I'm a hard stick, they only get me with a butterfly.I was talking to (hospital bigwig) just the other day.
How much longer do I have to wait?
Yeah... the butterfly things kills me. What most of them is really trying to say is "I'm afraid of needles, please use the small one." Which is fine by me.
"you gals don't get paid enough" and then said taxpayer snarks and moans whenever the contracts for nurses are up for renewal.
"I couldn't do your job"
"I built this country and I deserve x,y, whatever" (uhm, so YOU voted Liberal in the '60s and '70s and created the mess my generation has had to clean up, I'd love to be able to say THAT)
"I'm a senior and on a fixed income" No, poop Sherlock, the rest of the country is on a fixed income. I don't get raises by asking, I can pick up extra shifts and those are becoming hard to find.
"Oh, Mum would never hurt a nurse, she respects them" said by the family of a patient who sent a male nurse to the ER after kicking him in the groin.
Gotta love those taxpayers.
If CRNA is what interests you then so be it.
As an LPN all I hear is oh I am going to school to be an RN (nothing against RNs)..
I respect what CRNAs do.. I fall back on what I believe in though you better love being a CRNA and eat and breath this stuff and have a full understanding of what they do before you think about taking on such an endeavor. CRNA doesn't interest me.
Then again people say if I was a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner all I would do is write all day.
I am so tired of people asking me when I am going to become an RN. I will do this when someone comes and pays my bills for me so I can live for free while I go to school in the day time.
I like being an LPN so far..
from nursing students/externs/interns:
I just really don't ever see myself wasting my time doing med/surg.
I'm going straight to the ICU, b/c thats where I'll learn the most.
I would never work for this hospital.
This is really boring, I don't feel like I'm learning much.
I love working nights b/c fortunately I don't have to hear it that often :)

I am brand new to this site and enjoy exploring...
Recently, I have heard the same thing a MILLION times from newby nurses and talking with my fellow co-workers we have a running joke about it.
New nurses who say: I want to get into the ICU and go to CRNA school!!!
When a student comes to our unit I love to bait them until I hear them express this. If all these students actually went to CRNA school who would be available to perform all the other nursing jobs? It kills me! God love 'em!
