Ideal Places to Live and Work as Nurses

Hello All!,

Answer this: If you could live and work ANYWHERE in the US, where would it be and why? If you are happy with where you are, explain why you like it. Im looking to for a new place to live; that is, after I get my highly coveted RN degree. I look forward to reading your posts!

Funny this is brought up. This is my first post here, but I've been lurking & loving this site for about a week now. I have also been thinking about the same thing for days now, considering I am also going for my coveted degree & RN license. Life long dream to be a nurse & work in medicine.

I've gone down the list & I too come to the conclusion that FLA might truly be the place for me once I'm situated. I love it there too much. :)

The atmosphere & vibe - I find you just go through your days differently in such a beautiful place.

A little breezy, a little snow, mountains, deserts, not to far from skiing. Not too big, not to small. New Mexico!

Of course, you could become a travel nurse after a couple of years, and then you wouldn't have to decide!:D

Madison Wisconsin. Three non Magnet hospital (Ya!) and one Magnet hospital. Good benifits at all of them (of course not quite as good at the Magnet hospital as the other three). New grad starting pay is over $30/hour. Madison is a great town with tons and tons of stuff to do while at the same time very safe. Also with a pretty low cost of living.

I know the pay compared to some states is a bit less, esp. a place like the Boston area where I currently reside.

I am in love with that state, though. Have spent so much time there throughout my life. I wonder if the pay equates with the cost of living well.....

Oregon: Southern or Northeastern

Cali: Southern but only to be near my bro and his family

Washington: Central or Eastern

Notice a theme? I love the NW, but not the gloomy days for much of the year, I was raised in Portland and I don't want to move back there but any of the above would be great:D.

Depends on what you like; city girl or rural, cold weather or tropical, mountains or beach? For me, perfection would be the Pacific Northwest, or Western North Carolina, like Asheville NC.
