I think I am going to fail my first semester because my instructor told me that my skills aren't good enough. I have been passed off on all my major skills (4 out of 5) on the first try except one and the instructor is holding it over my head. I was given 3 times to pass off on the skill and I did on the 3rd & last try. Also this skill was the 1st one that we had to get passed off on which was at the beginning of the semester (we are near the end with only a month left). This is stressing me out.

Can you practice your skills so you are stronger and more confident with them? Did the instructor say you were in danger of failing? Or imply you need more practice?

Is it something you can watch on YouTube? Youtube has excellent nursing educational videos.

Hope this will change what u think of yourself." HE WHO SAYS HE CAN AND HE WHO SAYS HE CANNOT, ARE BOTH USUALLY RIGHT". But i want you to believe that you can. About 4 years back my tutor when i was in the Nursing school once told me that i was going to fail because i was performing rather dismally in my subjects.I dont want to lie, somehow i believed him and that moment i internalized it in me that i was not good enough. But one day just before my final exam i changed my mind and believed that i could do it. That positive thinking changed me to a greater extent, in fact in a class where i was considered the worst i became the best. I passed with flying colors while some of my colleagues failed. I never took the exam again and today im an RN. Remember Dr Ben Carson? he was once the least in his class but today his the best Neurosurgeon....Change your mindset and start believing in yourself...YOU CAN DO IT. If some have done it then you will do it too.
She said I need to improve my skills and be confident in clinical. Which I thought I was!*shrugs* Every time I have performed the skill (that failed the 1st 2 times) I have done it correctly so I really don't understand why. I am a bit shy but not in clinical.

For me practice made perfect. Go to your lab and practice on the dummy patient or on a school buddy.

don't get discouraged she is there to help you. She is suppose to tell you where you are weak at in her eyes to make you a better nurse. Just learn from her feed back and keep pushing. Don't take what she says to you personal. this is your first semester and she is your guide, she also knows that you aren't going to be perfect. if you guys are given videos to study go home and watch them and practice in the mirror or with a family member. I also right down the steps in my head and go back and compare to the check off sheet to see if i missed anything. you can do it good luck
GOOD NEWS!! I made it!!
