I think I failed Nclex in 75 questions

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I just took my Nclex rn and it was a monster of a test. Used Kaplan & Saunders to prepare but apparently I wasn't prepared enough. I'm super bummed now. Any repeat test takers have any advice?

I did the trick, I guess I did it correctly. It took me to the cc screen, I entered info from a prepaid debit card that has about $5 on it, I submitted & then the screen said 'our records indicate that you have scheduled an exam, can't reschedule at this time' or something to that affect. (Can't remember it verbatim), but I was told is not a reliable indicator anymore

That's the good pop up! And after 24 hours, it's pretty close to 100% reliable. Have you tried it again today?

If you had 75 Qs & the machine shut off on you, you passed. I did this too - 75 Qs in 75 min. I cried for days. After I found out I passed it occurred to me - you must have 80% to pass at any given time --- if you got most of your 75 qs wrong --- you'd be going a lot longer!!!

I hope you are right & as of today I'm still getting the good Pop up. I'm about 34 hours post NCLEX, so I'm hoping for good news tomorrow!

You must first analyze why you failed. My good friend failed twice and when I asked her this question she knew immediately that she just did not have enough nursing knowledge. She was super stressed in school and skated by. So, by the end of school her knowledge was in fragments. It was obvious that there was no glue in her memory that she could easily retrieve information necessary in critical thinking.

She took a class for several hundred dollars called "Lifesavers". This was basically just a bunch of content thrown together. If one had a pretty good nursing understanding, I would say this little weekend course would help an average student pass the NCLEX, It was not suited for her. She failed in over 150 questions.

The second time she planned to take the test she just used flash cards and tried to memorize certain illnesses with symptoms. Needless to say she bombed big time. You simply can't just remember two words together and then see them on the exam as is done in many other tests. You need a thorough understanding of the whole picture so that even if you haven't heard the name of a drug or disease you can start playing some ideas in your head of what is happening based on symptoms.

Remember: when in doubt its airway; and be familiar with signs and symptoms of hemorrhage.

The third time she took the test she used Hurst. It worked because it did not just throw a bunch of questions, skipping her lost nursing basics, it taught her how to think like a nurse. She said that she answered questions that were totally left- field from the concepts of what she learned from Hurst, but she passed in 77 questions. :D

Usually, pass or fail does not come down to not enough practice questions, it comes down to how well you can relate symptoms, ect. I would try Hurst or Ez NCLEX. I have heard that the major crash course, EXCELL is good, but it requires several days off work.

I hope you are right & as of today I'm still getting the good Pop up. I'm about 34 hours post NCLEX, so I'm hoping for good news tomorrow!

I just took my NCLEX on March 2, 2015 and did the PVT trick and kept getting the good pop up. Guess what? I found I passed on March 4, 2015 and my name was on the BON March 5, 2015. It definitely works!!!! I'll be waiting to hear your good news!!!!

I agree with wingding, you passed. I also passed with 75 questions and was convinced I failed! I cried on and off for 48 hours! My poor family. Cried again when I learned that I had passed.

I too had 75 questions and the computer shut off. I was convinced that I failed! I was questioning myself and why it felt I knew none of the answers. Well, thankfully that was 5 years ago and it is all behind me. I had passed, and I am pretty sure you did as well. ;) Looking forward to your excited, celebratory post soon!

I believe you passed! I took the NCLEX RN EXAM on Wednesday and shut off at 76 questions. I'm also waiting for official results. I did the PVT TRICK the minute I got outside and 24 hours later....still v got the good pop-up.....so excited....

Congrats, I read your post and have been patiently waiting for your pass results also
