warrior woman- (((hugs))) i feel your pain. i'm still in the acute care trenches. not where i want to be anymore, but i'm saving up money. i will be moving into a new area early next year (not nursing). i say hooray for you- go for the master's . community counseling sounds like a wonderful niche. life's short. take a chance on your dreams. hope you feel better soon. :balloons:
i am just sooooo discouraged right now. i work home health, and the clients are so very quirky and demanding. agency work sucks right now, but i sure don't want to go back to facility nursing either. i would love to be able to go back to grad school and get my master's in community counseling. i would like to be able to open up my own counseling practice one day. once i get some debts paid off, i am going to really start laying the graoundwork for that dream. thanks for letting me vent and share.
Thanks Kona. I thought when I graduated LPN school, I went into the job market with my eyes open. I just thought that I would make a bigger difference than I currently do now. I now know that counseling is my niche in life. My way to help others. I might even open a private practice in order to work with trauma survivors. It's going to take a while to get everything underway though.
Read my story on this site entitled " Down and Dirty in the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing " by me sleepless in norman, I think more nurses should go into counseling, the one I have is wonderfull. Good luck.:)

This is exactly why Im getting my BSN then going to Law school. I want to be a nurse attorney so when they get too *****y Ill just kick them out of my office! No really, law / goverment / nursing are my true loves and this is the only way I could combine them. But I still am tired of patients/ families.....
:roll

I'm tired of the patients, too. And the administration, and my co-workers. And the docs. And the way medicine/nursing is generally done in a hospital...
Yet I've only been a nurse for eight months now. Once my baby is born, I'm taking family leave and will reconsider my options, too.
Good luck with law school. Great plan!
