O M G, I am soooo happy right now! Out of 585 applications, my name came up in the first 100, which means I should get into Spring 2014 at CCSF (they pick 50 for fall; 50 for spring). Nothing's set in stone until I get the official letter, but I'm still going to celebrate!!!
I mailed mine. And then I'm going to call and make sure they got it.

Oh, you should have received a letter in the mail. It has the info for the 3 classes. These classes will ONLY be offered this Summer, and are mandatory if you did not pass your TEAS V test.

But I don't know if there's anymore you need to do. You should call the department and find out.
I'm in the same boat. Idk where to even begin with finding a healthcare job. I want to volunteer, but I don't want to work with high school kid volunteers and the old people selling candy at the gift shop! It's so confusing.
I used to work on and off as a personal assistant to a disabled woman/friend who was going through several major surgeries, where I did anything from help bathe/toilet, organize meds, take to doctors appointments, cook meals, walk her dogs, even style her wardrobe and do her hair and makeup. I could continue with this, but does it even count as working with a "patient"? I'm thinking maybe not, but it sure beats doing nothing. And I am desperate at this point for anything remotely related to patient care.
Right now I am pretty much a part-time real estate agent and marketing assistant, mostly from home. But I would like to really switch gears into nursing ASAP. So I would love to hear job ideas too!

I don't know if I am totally accurate when I say this... But when I got accepted to Merritt, they also have a summer success session for incoming nursing students. The nursing success is a class that shares how you need to study for nursing school, nclex style questions, and getting a head start on reading fundamentals. From what I have heard you have to read many chapters in the first week or two, for the first test... This class prepares you for it.. :)
