I'm from California and I had to retake the skills 3 times :/ the first time I messed up range of motion to the arm because I forgot he move. The second time I messed up blood pressure. This last time I got hand washing, blood pressure (she said I got it perfectly :D), dressing a client with a weak right arm, applying a stocking, and range of motion to the shoulder. I took it in Santa Clara and the facility was meh, a little ghetto looking. The tester wasn't very nice either. I was really nervous especially since it was my last chance to pass the test! You can do it though! Just study the steps exactly as they're written for your state. I know in California bed changing isn't one of the skills that's tested thank god haha

can you go ahead and apply for jobs or do you need to wait for card?

I need to wait for the card they will ask for the serial number

I don't know what state you're in, but in CT they post the certification online and your prospective employer can just look you up to see if you're valid, if you've had any action against your cert, etc. My cert # showed up on my state's registry within 48 business hours, even though I had to make a physical copy for my prospective employer....I was hired before I had it in hand.

Specializes in Long term care.

*whew!* bet you're glad that's over with!!!
