The Worst Hospital Visitor I've Ever Seen
- Falsely accused of verbal abuse
Geezz; what if your confused resident started telling you "don't choke me", even if you did not choke her/him, and someone heard it and reported you to the supervisor? I am starting to realize that this career is not worth our hard work, let alone the small salary, but degrading work, and CNA's are always put down. You don't have to be a CNA in order to make a difference in the lives of others. Don't risk your life; start finding another field or career which is less stressful, but rewarding.- Difficult resident and charged nurse
I never said the nurse is unreasonable by asking me to refrain from wearing gloves in the hallway; I just thought before reporting me to the supervisor she should have spoken to me first about it because I had no idea that wearing clean gloves in the hallway is a big no-no in their facility. It was my first job; and it was my 3rd day at work and I only had 3 hours orientation but I was assigned to different area. It was the charge nurse who instructed that the resident will take a shower before 9 pm; this resident is so damn persistent in not wanting to take shower. I did not force her; it's unethical to do that anyway. I told the nurse about the resident's refusal and she went to the resident's room and kept insisting that the resident had to take shower. The resident kept refusing and said she wanted to sleep instead. They didn't stop trying to get the resident to take a shower until around 10 pm; finally the resident agreed to take a shower. I don't work there anymore. I feel better now; not mad at the nurse anymore. It is not the end of the world.- Posting Licensed Number in social media
Maybe she/he is just very proud and wants to show it to everyone in social media. Some are even use RN with their fullname attached to it in facebook account.- I feel her pain
I had this resident which I like very much; she is always happy and thankful for everything that I have done for her. one day she's telling me she is in great pain and needs to take pills for it, so I quickly come to the nurse about it. the nurse told me she will come after she finishes her rounds with other residents; the resident keeps calling on the light and when I come to her room she keeps asking me when a nurse is going to see her, and that she is in pain. it took 30 minutes before the nurse came to see the resident who is suffering from pain. I just thought the nurse is somehow too slow, and is supposed to see immediately to a resident who is suffering from pain.- Difficult resident and charged nurse
I wasn't able to explain well to my supervisor I was very tired that night, I know this shouldn't be a reason. I just know the following morning that I can't return for work there. I guess this served me a lesson. Thank you everyone for the input.- Difficult resident and charged nurse
The trash can for dirty linen and dirty pads is in the hallway, how can you take off the dirty gloves when leaving the resident room. In this facility you cant leave or put the dirty pads in the trash can resident room.- Difficult resident and charged nurse
I always wash my hands before and after and wear clean new gloves to every resident. some of you did not understand my point.- Difficult resident and charged nurse
Well,,, if the clean new gloves I wear in the hallway is considered dirty already; I supposed we CNA are also dirty ourselves since we came from dirty resident room even though we took gloves off in the resident room. this is the same logic. Doesn't make sense to me .- Job interview
Thank you everyone for your good input.- Difficult resident and charged nurse
Hello my Fellow CNA, how do you deal with difficult resident and difficult nurse? I have this resident suppose to take shower before 9 pm but keep refusing no matter how I try to convinced her. I report it to the nurse and they help me but even them have a hard time of convincing her; but finally the resident agree to take shower at 10 pm which is too late because she supposed to be in bed at that time but I shower her anyway. The other issue nurse accused me that I did not remove my gloves after done taking care of the resident and use the same dirty gloves to other residents in other room. I always remove my gloves and use a new clean gloves to every resident. while I was walking in the hallway coming towards to other room I wear new clean gloves in advanced; maybe when she saw me she thinks I use the same dirty gloves to other resident; The nurse report me to the supervisor. I am angry at the nurse I just think I don't deserved any of this thing; the nurse is being unreasonable. Well, I just pray her to the Lord. By the way I work in agency; perhaps they don't like working with people from agency? I don't understand why.- Will every CNA get injured at one point?
Use the thing you learned from school correct body position or body mechanic; do not transfer the super heavy resident by yourself make sure ask another CNA for help and use hoyer. And adjust the bed position if it to low for your body.:)- Job interview
What kind of questions did you ask during job interview? I am always speechless when the interviewer ask me if I have any questions in mind. I only ask if I can see the facility or when I will know if I got the job.- Can a shy person be a good CNA?
And do not be shy to speaking up or ask a necessary question to your fellow CNA OR a Nurse at work when you need help. You will overcome your shyness once you used to interact with different people. coming from a former shy person;)- Cleaning and changing colostomy bag
Thanks everyone - Falsely accused of verbal abuse
