Hey guys,
I took my board exam on July 6th, tried the PVT trick with the good pop up. Could not believe it! I got low scores on all my ATI practice tests that my school required us to do...and had to do a lot of remediation. Then I signed up for Kaplan on demand and studied for about 4 weeks. The question trainers and q bank were extremely helpful! I only got to 33% of q bank and 4 q trainers though. I also got 2/3 of the kaplan 2011-2012 review book done. My average score on the questions was 62% and was worried because I kept hearing people say to pass you need to consistently score 65% or higher. I never got past 63% so I was concerned, but kept doing questions consistently and prayed to God. Had many people prayed for me too, so I am grateful for that and feel like it was all God's work! I couldn't have done it without Him.
I expected to get 265 questions, but it shut off at 75 questions and I thought that I had failed. But I got home, did the trick and got the good pop up. I called the BON this morning and was informed of my success, so the trick does work!
I used Kaplan, ATI, and Saunders comprehensive review 5th edition. Found Kaplan the most helpful. I reviewed my content mostly by going through all the rationales of each answer to each question. I was one of those students who had a hard time with NCLEX style questions during nursing school, but through repeated exposure with God's help, I passed with 75, so i want to encourage everyone to do lots of questions consistently and pray hard! Good luck to everyone who is going to take the NCLEX soon!

You did GREAT! Congratulations! I have Kaplan 2011-2012 strategy book and doing Kaplan on demand as well. I'm surprise you didn't even get to do question trainers 6 and 7 and 33% on the qbank and still PASS it! Superb! How did you answer each question? Did you use the decision tree? Anymore advise will be appreciated. Thank you for sharing your journey. It gives me HOPE. I know GOD is there for me and to everyone of us. Open your heart and believe! :heartbeat
Congratulations again! :)

This post is sooo encouraging. I am similar to you in so many ways. I was never good at NCLEX style questions in school. I am using Kaplan now to prepare. I take the NCLEX in 2 weeks. My scores are in 60s. I hope I will have the luck that you had! So happy for you!! Congrats!!

Don't worry, the test tests critical thinking, which is you, hearing about or seeing some patients and thinking ahead to what is the worst thing that can happen to your patient(s), what to do, how to prevent it, what are early signs of the worst thing, etc.
