  1. Great! I may not have time to order it online but I'll go to Barnes and Nobles and will check some websites. Thank you for the informations. :)
  2. Hello everyone, this is my first thread and I am wondering if there is anyone out there have any suggestions of a book or website to practice reading EKG strips. I am a new RN and got a job at a cardiothoracic stepdown unit. One of the requirements is for us to pass an EKG exam which I bet myself it'll include reading, interventions of what you'll do for a certain strip, etc. I'll be in a two day in class lecture just for EKG's and I thought this should be enough information to prepare for the exam but I am wondering if there is a good source which I can practice beforehand. I'd really appreciate for any input. Thank you!
  3. Quite a story. I like the way how you detailed your morning start. I'm like you, I had about 8-10 SATA and felt that out of those SATA questions, I was only positive to have one definite correct answers. The rest of them, I didn't have any clue if I had to check one more answer or just left it the way I thought it was. I was always off with one answer when doing SATA practice questions. Believe me, you're not the only one spent 10 minutes on a question. NCLEX bombarded me with medications. I'd have like 4 or 5 in a row. I'd say my whole exam was merely medications, SATAs, prioritizations, and teachings. I kept wanting more delegation type question, but it only gave me one. Yup, one. Anyway, if I am to suggest to future NCLEX takers, if medications are your weakness, please, please review them and answer as much questions as you can as it will enhance your ability to challenge pharm questions. And KinX, you are right. You can never go wrong if you know and understand the content. I'd highly recommend to not only rely on answering questions, but review the content. Goodluck everyone! Do the best you can and you'll be RN's before you know it! :[anb]:
  4. Congratulations! I am positive you'll be seeing "PASS" when you check Pearson Vue. Before I took NCLEX, I had ask most of my classmates whether they re register and all of them got the good pop up. I kept telling them to believe me it means they passed but like you and I and all of them still felt skeptical about it. When I got the good pop up, I thought what if it changes? LOL. I even posted a thread but no one replied if anybody had an idea about it, so I left it alone and believed, okay, I think I got it. I did the PVT an hour after my exam and boy, I jumped and cried! Eight o' clock in the morning, two days later, I checked Pearson Vue and received the pass status. It's weird, it feels like there was more excitement checking the PVT and getting the good pop up than finding out that I pass. Although, I did cry and thank GOD the moment I made it. I didn't jumped or screamed. It was a different feeling like, Wow, this is for real I passed! I reside in NC and I wish they post our names online fast. NCBON post within 5 to 7 days from the day you took the exam. I am awaiting to what kind of a feeling or reaction I'm going to show when I actually see my name with a RN beside it. Do something fun while confirming you passed it. Don't worry about it because PVT definitely works! Congratulations to you again. Keep us posted. :)
  5. To all of us who took it yesterday, the best of luck for us! Does the message on Pearson vue ever change? I tried the trick an hour after my exam and I'm a Lil relieved it didn't let me register. I felt like I answered a thousands of meds questions. I probably took more than five minutes on each of them that's why u think it took me two hours an half to finish 78 questions. I mostly used Kaplan online. Finished 100% of the qbank and had 62 on question trainer 7. I was scoring in the low 50's on the other trainers and a 59 average on the qbank. I honestly feel like the pattern of questions nclex gave me were similar with Kaplan. They're not the exact same questions but Kaplan had a lot of priority, teachings, meds questions where I thought Kaplan sort of prepared me for it. I had lot of subjective type of answers like which statement from the patient is correct. Anyway, I truly hope and pray the message I got from doing the PVT won't change. Anyone have an idea?
  6. I checked after an hour and got the "good pop up". I HOPE it really work 'coz man that test was hard!
  7. I can still feel my heart beating real FAST! Took my NCLEX this morning at 8am. I tried to re register and it says ----"Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time."---- I've been reading a whole lot of people threading this. This is the good pop up right? Please, please tell me. Anyone out there. My legs are still shaking. The whole test was hard. Omg, I had a lot of meds that I should have known. When my computer didn't stop at 75, I was like oh God this is it. I must be either doing real bad or good. Then I thought of answering a lil faster because I was on #75 question and the time I used was 2 hours +. Then my computer shut off at 78 or 79? I can't remember anymore. Ahhhhh, how acccurate is the PVT??? Please HELP.
  8. Hey congatulations! U did well. How long can u wait to check the pvt?
  9. Thanks. I'll see if I can get the book at barnes and noble or borders. I take it end of next week. I know it sounds not ideal to get that book since I don't really have enough time. Uve been going over infection control and I'm getting a lot of those questions of who would you room the patient with and I think I'm doing okay on that part. It's the Sata and drag and drop type of questions that gets me. What I did is write Every steps in order on a index card and I'm going to go over and over it. I'll google those mnemonics u said. I guess ill be sleeping late tonight again. when do u test again?
  10. Okay got it. Thanks! Ugh, I wish I have enough time. It worries me when someone says review content and you'll be fine. I've been just answering questions and my scores does seemed like I do need to review the content. I do go back and review them but mainly the ones I got wrong. I have enough time, I'd really review the whole book. Can you tell me what book you ordered on Amazon? I'll try to see if I can buy it at a local bookstore. I am taking Kaplan by the way and I'm scoring like in the low, mid, high 50's on the question trainers. Although my readiness test was 63%. I don't know what happened it just seemed like my scores are just going down the slope. But I'm staying positive and yeah, reading rationales helps a lot. Thank you for the prayer. I will do the same... stay focus with studying.
  11. Hello Keldel, I am currently answering questions from Lacharity and oh my they are hard. I mean some of them are easy but any advise on how you would answer prioritization question? I do know to focus on ABC (cardiac and circulation) + V (vital signs), who is the most unstable client, likely going to die first, etc. Anything you can add more? SATA are just hard. I always get them wrong. Any book you could recommend to practice more on SATA questions? Thanks! BTW, I said from a previous post, I won't be posting or replying to any of the post because I'll be reviewing...but here I am. LOL. It just goes by saying, I love this website. Truly is helpful and you get a lot of help and encouragements.
  12. Hello mzznurse, thanks for threading. Last night, when I read your message, I immediately went back and listen to the audio version of the topic I was weak at. LOL. I kind of did that for awhile. I stopped because I thought they were pretty darn long and listening and following it in the book I thought was a lot. BUT I went back though since last week. Anyway, all I can do right now is do as much as I can. Never waste a time which reminds me, I need to go back and answer 'em questions now. I'll probably won't be saying much out there from now on because I need to use the remaining time I have. Although, I probably would still be reading some post of those who made it. It just uplifting and one way for me to stay positive and look forward to taking it. Thanks again! :)
  13. Wow, a 64%? That is awesome! You did great! Yeah, reading/reviewing contents and listening to audio lectures or even talking it out yourself really increases your knowledge. I mean you can't go wrong with that and with the Kaplan questions they have for us, I say are very good and challenging. I like it. It will make you think more than 10x. I surely hope myself too that Kaplan will help us pass NCLEX. You should have enough time to really review the answers you got wrong and go over the topic in the Kaplan book. I've been reviewing for a month but I'd say seriously been studying for 2 weeks. If I haven't said it already, do not leave a day without challenging yourself. Answer questions and read/review contents. Goodluck to 'ya! You and I can do it!!!!
  14. Hello katyn213, it makes me feel good when you stated you used Kaplan only. I'm done with all the qbank questions and I'm left with the QT7 which I am planning to take tomorrow. I plan to retake those questions I missed in the qbank and probably re do the QT 7 if I still have enough time. I have NCLEX 3500 which I haven't really answered a lot of it. It's crazy, sometimes I have palpitations as my test date approaches. All of the people I know who took Kaplan passed with a 75 questions. They said all the studying they've done wasn't really helpful and that NCLEX gave them totally random questions. I really hope that the Kaplan type questions prepares me to face NCLEX. I've mainly been answering quesitons and before I go to bed, review some content or listen to an audio lecture which I happen to fall asleep by the way. Just thought I might want to share this to those who are taking NCLEX, there is an app if you have an iphone called NCLEX RN and their questions I believe are Kaplan. I think I paid less than $5. When I first answer their questions, I thought, boy this are hard, so I left it out for awhile until I came back to it last week. At first, I was like no way, this isn't the same question I just took earlier from question trainer 6. I've done about 300 and I'm honestly serious, there are plenty of questions I've answered from the Kaplan test bank. The reason why I am sharing this because I think it's a great deal. You dont really have to spend $450 just to get access to Kaplan type of questions. The only problem is, I tried searching it again on app store but I couldn't find it anymore as I was curious to find out the information of the application. When I bought it, I didn't bother reading who created it or whatever. All i remember was it had a good user reviews. Anyway, thank you so much katyn213. I am staying positive with this. Been telling myself I'll be an RN pretty soooonnnn!
  15. I know how you feel. But pleaseeee don't give up! Never have a day you dont answer questions, review a content or listen to an audio lecture. Really understand what you're reading. If you have enough time, go over and over the materials again. Practice makes perfect. I've been reviewing for about a month and half but only been seriously reviewing in the last 2 1/2 weeks. Be seriously confident and believe you can do it. I know that is what I've been implanting in my mind.
