After two years of taking and re-taking I finally got accepted into the RN program at the local college! Any tips on surviving first semester fundamentals/math dosage?

Congrats, i feel your excitment! I start Jan 2012 and have all my pre req's satisfied so i hope to utilize these 6 months to work on conversions/math and drugs, 2 areas i know any extra time spent on will be a bonus~i generally am not an A student, i have to work hard for my B's~i want this so bad, self disipline, eye on the prize! Do you work in healthcare? Its a huge bonus to have the clinical expierence and exposure~good luck to you, i would not worry fundimentals and do math & drugs even though Pharma. is sometimes 2nd semester~Good luck again~

Congrats! My only advice to you is to seek help early on. Utilize all of your resources (teacher's office hours, allnurses :), students in 2nd year, books, Google, Youtube, etc) Also, for drug calculations, practice as many problems as you can until you get it right. Good luck!

Congrats!!! My advice would be to just keep up with your reading and assignments so that you're not playing catch up. Its so easy to get behind and you really can't cram in nursing school. Take andvantage of down time and study even when you don't wanna. Good Luck!!!!!!

Talk about persistence! Congratulations on not giving up. Everyone gave you great tips. Stay focused, study hard, read until you get it, tape lectures if you are allowed and replay them.

Whoo Hoo ! Congrats !

Get the book Math for Med by curren. We need it for our nursing program, and we gradually work through it and are tested throughout the program, depending on the stage we are at. I start this fall also, and am already on chapter 7. When we get to that point again in school, I will do it all again to refresh, but not re-learn. I would recommend it. I am just getting into safe drug administration and hypodermic syringe measurement.

The book starts with basic math, like multiplying and diving fractions. A great start!
