I love nursing but I'm too busy to help you hang room darkening blinds in Dad's room... too busy to change your channel AGAIN with the remote you're holding...too busy to fix your pillow while I'm doing a dressing change on your roomate with the giant smelly stage IV decub! :chuckle

Specializes in Critical Care, Pediatrics, Geriatrics.

I love being a student nurse but I am too busy taking care of my patient appropriately to take care of YOUR patients too, especially the ones you really care less about and feel they are a BURDEN to you.

this comment is only for those nurses who have developed a hardened heart and cut corners with patient care.

Specializes in Case Managemenet.

I am sometimes amazed at the thought that while working in the ED pts and visitors think they are in a restaurant. I am busy to get their food specialty item (as if it would be available) HELLLOOOOO this is a hospital. One day I will finally snap and say that.

I love nursing but I don't have the time to be the kind of nurse I want to be.

I love being a research nurse but I don't have time to be pulled away from my work to fill in in the clinic when the high maintenance MD has pissed off yet another nurse so badly that she quits.

I love nursing but I am too busy in my personal life to pick up extra shifts when the unit is short. (maybe that is why I am not burned out)

I love nursing but don't feel in is my job to double check schedule changes that management and administration can not document correctly which ends up with us being short.

I love nursing but I don't work for free.

I love nursing but I don't have the time to be the kind of nurse I want to be.

Wow...thats about it!

I love nursing but I don't have the time to WASTE time answering to an internist who asks why we called a code on a "no code" CHOKING patient!!! Would you just shut the door and walk away?

Specializes in Community Health Nurse.

Amen to that! :)

too busy to occasionally answer the junior, senior resident's, fellow's, and attendings pagers when they go off simultaneously. reminds me of an incident:

dr. troll is taking out a tumor from this 30 yo woman's eye. getting specimen properly identified and positioned is extremely important for diagnosis. p.s. pt is awake during procedure. while handling the specimen, dr. troll's pager goes off. "young lady, my pager went off."

"i heard it. i'll get it in a moment."

15 seconds go by.

"young lady, did you hear my pager?"

i turn around and look at him. "yes. i heard it. i'll get it when i'm done."

15 seconds go by.

"miss, when are you going to get my pager??"

i look him full in the face. "properly labeling this specimen is a nursing priority. answering your pager is a favor i do for you. don't ask me again."

argh!! :banghead:

good 4 you "young lady" :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle :rotfl: :rotfl: well spoken :)

Try to feed the patient and all 7 of his/her visitors and too busy to repeatedly explain why a patient with MRSA in a wound should NOT go into the pantry for apple juice. :angryfire
