I don't know what to do with myself.

It's so weird being done with school for a while. I ordered next semesters books yesterday. I have read everything I have (pleasure reading) and need to find a new series that will capture my interests like my last 2 series did. Apparently we are in global warming but it's freaking snowing this minute outside. :| So I haven't been able to enjoy the weather since being done. I started deep cleaning but that doesn't seem very fun.

I keep refreshing this site and facebook hoping there is a new post LOL.

Man this sorta sucks!!!!

I am LOVING all this time again with my baby girl!!! She seriously cracks me up all the time with the crazy things she says. I love the toddler preschool years!!

Oh and I am anxiously waiting for my grade to go into the schools system to see my new GPA after getting the C in my freaking 9 credit med.surge class.

Maternity/Peds was 7 credits so hopefully the B will help bring it back up again!

Yeah I had that problem over my 1 week of summer vacation. LOL. I was so not use to having nothing on my todo list. Then summer semester started and it's so hard. I'm taking 7 credits in 7 weeks. I'm either studying or in school all day long. I have no life. I shouldn't even be on here. ;)

Girl, I am right there with you!!!

I have a 3 week break, starting yesterday, and I am already bored. I don't know what semester you just finished. I just finished my 2nd semester...it about kicked my butt!! (med/surg & maternity/peds) I was so emotionally and physically drained yesterday! I seriously slept all afternoon yesterday and until 2pm this afternoon. I'm feeling A LOT better after that!

Ha, I'm sitting on facebook doing the same thing!! ..and allnurses...and weddingbee...nothing new in a while...I'm thinking it's time for a corny lifetime movie! :)

enjoy your time off!

Have you read any books by Atul Gawande? They're awesome...you should add them to your to-do list!

Where are you that it's snowing? Maybe you should go somewhere that doesn't have snow right now, if that's possible.

Like you, I'm quite bored...I'm staying up all night so that I can sleep all day before work at 7PM.

Nothing seems to keep me away from this site. LOL My med surge class was 9 credits in 8 weeks and clinicals twice a week but I still came here. Just not as much LOL.

Winter break it's not as bad because it's not as much time.

I do enjoy having the break though, with 4 kids I didn't want to do the accelerated program where they keep going straight through with the 1 week off.

All my Co Reqs are done so I have no classes I even need to take for the summer

I have never heard of them, what are they about? I am really picky about books, the last 2 series were totally not my type but they were good.

We normally wouldn't have snow right now. I am in CO (fort collins) close to the WY border. (about 30 mins from WY)

I have lived here almost 4 years and we have NEVER had snow in may in that time. This year we have had it about 3 times. :| But it's supposed to be 70's next week so that will be nice.

I don't work either. I have applied for many aide positions but no calls or anything, in a way I am glad though, I don't think I want to work over the summer either.

I just bought us summer passes for Elitches (it's like 6 flags with a water park) so we will go there a lot this summer. But it's in Denver and about an hour from me.

They're non-fiction books. Atul Gawande is a surgeon in Boston. Basically, each book is a series of vignettes that have a common theme (but you have to look kind of hard to see the relationship).

I have read them again and again and again.

After this winter, I wouldn't mind if I never saw snow again!

@CamaroNurse.... I just googled Atul Gawande. I might add that to my to-do list!

I hear you. Last final was yesterday and I know I am weird, but I got tearful when I came home, cleaned out my backpack, put up my books. I don't WANT the summer off. I was that happy in nursing school. I realize most people don't feel that way, but I do.

The author of The Other Boleyn Girl writes some very good, historically embellished but rather accurate stuff and it is satisfyingly filthy. I also recommend Anne Rivers Siddons. Good stuff.

I am taking Lifespan in Maymester and then working the rest of the summer. I may have a nursing externship/PCT or secretary/PRN type position on the way from the hospital who gave me my scholarship. I would love that. I am actually quite blue not to be headed off to clinicals today. I plan to talk to folks in the semester ahead of me and get the areas of study or even a copy of the syllabus for next term so that I can start reading chapters ahead and focusing on NCLEX prep as well.

I am bored... but I should be studying for my endocrine test tomorrow. :lol2:

I don't have much time off between this class and my summer class. I take my test tomorrow and then we are off Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and jump into our very last class on Monday. If it weren't the last class, I would probably not be as excited!!

54 days until I am a :nurse:

Not bored here. Just unmotivated :D

I had 10 days off between OB/Peds and Medsurge 1. I started Medsurge on Monday. And I knew it was going to be a struggle to do work in it. I had no idea how much. I did do all of the reading for the next 3 lectures. And I did my own outline (courtesy of my medsurge NCLEX book- I'm hoping doing that will help in lecture.)

It's just that we have a LONG day tomorrow. And now Monday's going to be a LONG day. I was supposed to go to clinical orientation today. BUT- our clinical instructor's teaching another class. And I found out through another classmate that we're going on Monday. (she asked the woman who's in charge of clinical assignments what was up). And what annoys me the most is that there is NO EMAIL, NO NOTICE ON BLACKBOARD. And there was supposedly one this morning.

I only have class for 8 weeks. Then we have the rest of the summer (until August) off. I don't like the fact that this class is broken in 2- but I think I'm going to seriously need those few weeks to "recharge".

I hear ya!!! I have 6 weeks off before I have to go back for 2 summer mini-courses.

I did start a patient tech job 2 months ago so I'm trying to work 2 nights per week but I'm really, really hating this job. I can't really quit because I just heard that the May 2010 grads that got jobs were the ones that had tech jobs for the past year. I guess I better keep this job!

I'm taking this week off from any thought of school but I am going to try to buy some textbooks from a grad and get started on my reading.

As far as pleasure reading goes, have you read any books by Jennifer Weiner? She wrote Good In Bed, In Her Shoes, Goodnight Nobody, etc. She is kind of chick-lit but her books are smart and witty and are great reads.

If you are looking for a HILARIOUS series to read, Janet Evanovich is loads of fun. She writes about a bumbling female bounty hunter that cannot stay out of trouble. The series starts with One For The Money and goes up to 15 or maybe even 16 now. It is best to read them in order but not 100% necessary.

I'm an avid reader, or at least i was, and I have a list of 4 or 5 other writers I just love but they aren't for everyone. If you want some Southern humor let me know and I'll send those along too.

I do hope everyone takes some ME time during this downtime. Go get a pedicure, a massage, have lunch out with friends you haven't seen all semester! Take care of YOU!!
