My situation: I graduated in 2003. I failed my boards before. Retook the test last month. I passed! I had a job interview yesterday and was offered a job at an LTC. Starting pay is $20.55. I'm nervous because I haven't been in the nursing field since 2003. I'm so rusty. Any advice? Should I take a refresher course? Even if you tell me I should, I don't know of any close by. I know I'll have orientation until I feel comfortable to be on my own, but I AM SO NERVOUS. I'm afraid I'm going to look like a fool. I start on the 31st of August. Ahhhhh!! ADVICE?

Congratulations on passing! Let the job know you're 'a bit' rusty; they should understand.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I, too, graduated 2003 and passed my board last month but haven't found a hospital job. I applied to hospitals but haven't had any luck/respond from them except one hospital recommend I should be in a Grad Program 'to refresh'. I'm happy for you that you immediately got hired. You'll do just fine...your skill will come back as you work! Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations. They hired you knowing when you graduated, so they are expected a new grad nurse. Don't worry about a refresher. Give yourself a pep talk and don't give into any fears that you're not good enough or can't handle it. They wouldn't have hired you if they thought that.
Good luck!
